VacuumLand – Vintage & Modern Vacuum Enthusiasts

Help Support VacuumLand:

SInce I can't go down there,

I'm happy to pay someone ahead of time to send a kirby truck and one of the machines in pic 5. Also, are there any red bumpers with clamps for 500 series?

JRDAVIS, I do not have the Classic labels, but I have entire belt lifters on those parts machines. Let me know if you would like one.
He does have some original bags for older machines, just not sure which ones. I do know for sure he has a Classic one for $20 or so.

Hoover300, email sent.

From the shop owner:
"I've lowered prices on shampooers and turbo sanders. SHAMPOOERS: $15.00 each or 2 for $20.00 and turbo sanders are $5.00 each."
Most of these are for the G series but the sanders might still work on older machines. I have a Classic shampoo set if anyone needs one.

Not that much left

I went back Tuesday evening with 100$ and came back with a huge haul. I picked up some Turbo sanders for Heritage 2 and g3. I also got a shampoo system for g3,a classic 1cr, a metal shelf, 2 boxes of classic 3 part units and the rug oh and a 512 for parts. There is very little left. Come and save what’s left

Turbo360 - Nice haul! I am glad a collector got that rug - it would look great in front of your fireplace! Let me know if you need any parts for your new 1CR - I have plenty to go around! :o)

Today I revisited the shop to get the two Kirby toy trucks and a nice washed original Classic bag. The bag I wanted to put on a Classic I would restore later. I bought it for $20 and it came with a freebie - a complete Classic vacuum with manual! Well I will restore that one and the parts units will be just that.
I also got the ill-shaped handle for a Classic III and two old hoses for a Heritage. A small haul but I have no room for anything else.

So while the inventory there is shrinking, they are still a lot of parts machines in the back that needs homes; I took the dusty honor to go through each box...

In the first picture the two stacks of boxes on the right have the Classics through Classic IIIs.
There are about 6 Traditions (no top locks), 6 Classic III (two are CHERRY with emtors in Legend II box - great for resto!), 4 Omegas (one with pinstripe bag), and 2 Classics (one was dropped). Some of these had metal emtors.
The boxes in the stacks to the left contain about 12 Heritages and 12 Heritage IIs all with no emtors or bag parts...
None of the above have cords.

There are 7 5xx unit at the front of the store also.

The three Classics in picture 2 are sitting in the scrap box. The one with the nozzle actually works - not sure why it is there. The other two had bad motors.

There are MANY shampooer sets for G3 to G6, some like brand new.

There are dust meters, filters, gaskets and glass covers for the dust meters. All of these are for G-series. He has a box discount for all these - $20 I think it was.

At this point he is wheelin' and dealin'. The prices shown are not what you will pay (except for Gold Heritage). Th emore you buy the better the discount.
Hope all of this gets into good hands...
After this Saturday, the above might be on their way to becoming beer cans...

He also has furniture, knick-knacks and other stuff as shown here.

Rob,

Speaking of the Classic 1CR, here's my 1972 that is almost 100 percent finished in terms of trim.

What it still needs:
* Brown cord with Kirby script logo on male plug
* Brown handle grip with six screws and hook in back

Ben,
Nice Classic! Your bag and patch look to be in great shape.
I do have lots of brown Classic handles with the screws, but no cords unfortunately.

Just a few days left now... If you have been meaning to go, but have not yet, please do so before the scrap guy comes after this weekend.
I will goo back one or two more times, so if you want me to look for anything, I will - just let me know soon.

Scrappers are coming this Wednesday!

This is it!
Go Monday or Tuesday (9-6) and claim whatever vacuums/parts units are left before they are scrapped!
Saturday 11-30 at noon he has to be out of there and leave the shop empty.

If you cannot make it those days but can Wed or Fri, call him and commit to a pickup date for certain items.
The pictures below are all the vacuums he has left, awaiting a nice home, garage, workshop or even a dusty attic. Anywhere but the metal shredder..

Pictures 1-4 are all of: 1 Omega, 5 Traditions, and 2 Classic III parts units he has left.
Picture 5 shows the above units which are all in the right-most stack at the shop, and another lone Omega...
Picture 6 shows all the 28 Heritage and Heritage II units available - all three stacks of boxes! There are a few Legend I (not II) machines in there, too. Keep in mind the armatures (and fields with wiring mods) in these fit the Omega-Traditions also.
Picture 7 shows the 4 remaining 5xx machines. These really need saving!
Picture 8 shows the remaining whole working vacuums.
Picture 9 shows the stack of shampooer units for G3, G4, G5, and G6
Picture 10 shows a good hose and some attachments for a Legend II.

At this point, you can name your price on any of this stuff. Pay what you can afford - a tip or such, even if you cannot afford much. Try to give something but do not let price stand in your way. The more you get the better the deal becomes.
It is worth much more to a collector/repairman/hobbyist than a scrapper.

If you need a unit that WAS there but is no longer, let me know via email (in my profile), as I might have what you want on my back patio! Most of these need to go to collectors also.

This is your last chance - I really hope they can go to a good home. I cannot take any more - I am WAY overfilled as it is...

rob I forgot about the legend 2 hose etc, I should have grabbed it. get it for me if you go back, those Traditions look to be in good condition!

The scrapper took some Heritages and Heritage IIs today but still quite a few left. He will return Saturday morning to get everything else left that is metal.

The five complete working machines are all still there - Two Heritage, one Heritage 84, One Classic III and one bojacked-bag Tradition. As of now there is no real price on them. If you want them, please go get them. He will ship if you pay a little for his time and entire shipping amount. I have a parts Heritage 84 as well if you want it.

There are still two Traditions, two Classic III and an Omega parts unit.

In the pictures, the Heritage and Heritage II (and a Legend I) are in the big stack, the others are in the small stack. Go get them for free for parts.

There is also a stack of empty Kirby boxes for free if anyone wants them. Great for storing them or moving them.

Kelton,
I bought the hose and attachments for cheap and will hold em for you.
I also bought the two best looking Traditions as they are restorable - they need homes. I even got some handle backplates that have intact cord clips!

Kelton, let me know how many boxes you want and if you have a favorite model of the G-series. I will put them in the attic for when you come back this way.
My last trip there will be Saturday at noon.
Enjoy the holiday!

LAST CALL!

If anyone was waiting 'til tomorrow to grab whatever is left at the shop, try to do so before noon. The scrapper will be there after 12 some time to haul off whatever is left that is metal. Any remaining furniture and non metal stuff will either hit the dumpster or be donated. There is an old large wooden corner desk that will be cut up and trashed, along with the sales counter.

I have not been there since Tuesday so not sure what remains.
I am pretty sure some (if not all) of the Kirby parts units in the back remain.
If anyone is super motivated, they might be able to get the store's outdoor sign!

I will go there after 12 just to say goodbye to them and seal the end of a long-time business relationship with them. I had been going business with them since 2001 and my mom since the early 80's and before!
This shop will truly be missed...

RIP Kirby Service Center of Plano

So on my way to seeing my sick sister in the hospital, I decided to make a slight detour and see the Kirby shop for the last time. And as you can see, it is now gone.

Thank you to all who helped him clean out and save many old machines and parts. About 40-50 were scrapped, but we just can't save them all due to space constraints. I still need to find homes for many more of them that are on my patio.

I send out a very warm THANK YOU to James and Lindy who ran the place, for all their expertise, parts and excellent customer service. You all ran a business the way it should be run and you will be missed. We hope you will now enjoy the retired life, the way you want.

Picture 2 shows that just maybe they did know what a vacuum cleaner was for after all - floor looks quite clean! However they may not have broken out the rug renovator given the outline from the counter... :o)

Goodbye Kirby Service Center of Plano................ Thanks.

fun while it lasted

thanks for the kirby 1cr. bearings are a little dry but i'll be replacing them anyway

Bearings

You must wet the bearings before you run the machine. Spin off of silence of the lambs. You must use the lotion.
