Just saved a Sentria from certain death before the rains fell today. It was sitting in the gutter so I grabbed it! Is there any way to turn a pink bag back to gray? I want to keep the curved zipper but I want a gray bag! Any suggestions? I’ve though some rit die but not sure if that’s the best way or if it is what color with get pink close to gray… thank you for your help!

I'm confused what you mean by pink outer bag. Is it sun faded or was it some kind of special edition? If you want a grey outer bag with the curved zipper, there's plenty of used ones on eBay.

The Sentria bag is not actually pink per se. It's a very slight mauve-gray color and depending on the light and the angle it can appear "pink" at one moment and gray the next. That is normal.

Here's photos plucked from Google Images. Notice how the color changes between photos. The last photo was taken outdoors where you can really see it pop out. I think it's natural sunlight that brings the color out more than indoor lighting.

I believe it is a type of fabric that it reflects light back differently depending on which way it catches the light. I actually never noticed that until this post was made and I looked it up.

Someone more scientific could likely explain it better.

Unless Kirby did a mid-run change to it and changed the bag color so slightly - I am not aware of it and there is no documentation on it at all.

I did some more looking - I think you are right. I never noticed this before at all.

It looks like the bags have this weird effect where they fade pink for some reason.

Additionally something I never knew - the bag style did change at some point. There was a change from a curved bag zipper to a straight one - or vice versa.

Usually bags like this fade because of the sun or a very bright light. If you want the bag to stay grey, you'd want to avoid as much light as you can. That being said here, can't say that I have a solution for you to fix the problem. You can try dying the bag, like what taxidermists would do to restore animal mounts from the sunlight. Or I would just buy another outer bag.
