I distinctly remember "The Price is Right" giving away a Filter Queen dark brown model, without the PN, once in the late 1970s. I remember the shiny brand new S wands and FQ rug nozzle they had with it.
It was one of the prizes in the big "Showcase Showdown" at the end of the show.
Every once in awhile they have old "Lets Make a Deal" episodes on the Game Show Network,,,awhile back there was an episode from around 1973-74,,one of the prizes was a Hoover Powerdrive DAM cream and toupe color,,,and in another eposide they were giving away a brown Celebrity without the PN. They had the vac standing up, with the hose nailed or held in a circle to the back of the wall of the display.
The early 70s Bissel stick vac/broom vacs were often prizes on that show also,,,and i have seen Singer BOL twin fan Uprights as prizes on LMAD too,,it for less than 50 dollars,,infact i think the manufacturers suggested retail price was 49.95. I know the Bissel stick vacs were less than 40 dollars, i want to say they went for something like 39.95.
There was one episode awhile back from the early to mid 1970s where one of the prizes(behind door number 1, 2, or 3!) was a Black and Decker Central Vacuum. All that was displayed was the unit itself, a short hose, and the wands with a floor brush attached,,i thought that was strange. Evidently whoever put the displays together for that show didnt spend alot of time on that one!
