Picked up my first Hoover Convertible (U4171)

Hey Vacuumland, thought I'd show off the first vacuum I've picked up in a few years. Found this one at the local Goodwill for around $20 and am currently waiting on some bags and belts in the mail. I think this one would be an early 80's model based on what I looked up, but I could be wrong.

Anyways, before I start getting to work on cleaning it up, is there anything I should know about when working on one of these?

I'm no Hoover Convertible expert, but I think Hoover quit making that style of hood around 1975. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Not at all...

In fact, Hoover's LAST convertible the RS convertible U4597 used this style of hood. That was in 1992. It made its debut on the 31 Special.
