Ditto..!

I was thinking the same thing. Ever since Tom Gasko taught me all about the Hoover 150 and then actually showed me one, I have thought to myself that this was one of the finest cleaners Hoover ever made, if not, in fact, the finest.

They really got it all together with this one.

Indeed-

Over here we had the 160- same machine but with a conventional handle socket instead of the forked handle. A rare beast indeed!

Here's Mine

Complete with the exception of the hose. It even has a perfect original bag. Complete with tools and caddy. This is the compilation of two machines. We have shot a "See It Clean" of the 150 and as soon as I can get it tranferred from analog to digital, I will post the video.

Front Shot

Thanks Bob S. The bag alone was worth the whole machine! This machine was way ahead of its time. Automatic height adjustment, full bag indicator and design by Dreyfuss. What more could you ask for?

I'm lucky enough to have both a 160 and it's commercial sister, the 960, in my collection. The 160's one of the much rarer pre-war examples, made between 1938-9, whereas the 960's quite a late example from March/April 1947.

Other than the handle difference that Seamus mentioned above, the UK machines also lack the height adjustment device which the 150 had - and certainly no 'bag full indicator' - does anyone have a picture of this, I've never heard of it before! Also, what was the 150's commercial equivalent in the US at this time??

Full Bag Indicator

It is on the side of the main housing next to the motor hood towards the rear of the machine. It is a little round window that shows a red dot when the "bag is full." We demonstrate it in the video. Hopefully I can get it posted this weekend.

Sounds very interesting, I can't wait to see the videos, the ones we already have here are one of the highlights of this site!

Full Bag Indicator

Actually, if you look at the Vacuum of the Day today, you will see the full bag indicator as a round hole towards the back of the base, next to the hood.

Haven't seen that 150 in a long time Fred. It went through the entire family from the early 40's to the 90's when I received it. Glad you have it and are enjoying it.
Bob
