I have a Great Pyrenees and ragdoll cat. Tried several vacuums only to have the rollers clog and wrap around gears and eventually burn up motor. Is there a vacuum that won’t do this. I’m tired of brands saying they’re anti clog rollers and such. Haven’t found any that can stand up to Pyrenees hair. Help!

Ok....first of all, I can't say I have specific experience with Great Pyrenees hair. But, what I CAN tell you, is one of the keys to this is rather simple - maintenance! Yep, if you want a powerhead that will last a long time and not have to replace brushrolls all the time, you MUST get in there and cut the pet hair off after each use.

One tip I will give though - For canisters or central vac, look for a powerhead with a metal brushroll. Metal brushrolls tend to last longer, and are cheaper because you are usually just changing the brush strips. Also, hair doesn't wrap around metal brushrolls as easily because metal is a slippery surface. Some powerheads with metal brushrolls are the Dust Care PN11, Sweep & Groom / Eureka Vibragroomer 3, and the Riccar/Simplicity powerheads. One other really good option for your case would be the Sebo ET1 & ET2 powerheads, as the brushroll removes very easily by twisting a cap and pulling out to cut hair off.

For uprights, Panasonic uprights with the metal brushrolls, and higher end Riccar / Simplicity uprights have metal brushrolls. Also keep in mind wood brushrolls may work as well BUT most have plastic endcaps! Metal endcaps would be ideal if possible, OR be very vigilant about cutting that hair away each time you are done vacuuming.

More than anything else, research the archives here - there are other people I am sure who have had this problem, have gotten recommendations, and solved the problem. And ask your friends who are pet owners, read online reviews, and talk to some vac shop owners to see what their customers are satisfied with, and more importantly what lasts and doesn't come back often for repairs.
