Just the bulb...

Bringing this up again. The last T7 bulb I bought I ended up taping with electrical tape because it was loose and flickered.
It died recently, so I got some LED bulbs and they're loose too.

Anyway, researching T7 bulbs I found out that it means 1/8ths of an inch. So a T8 is 8/8 or 1-inch and T7 is 7/8s of an inch.

I'm wondering if the reason these are loose is because they bulbs should be bigger.

Anyone have any knowledge if the T7's were always proper? I know putting some drops of solder can also help, but I'm thinking a slightly larger bulb, like T8, might work better.

Of course it could also be too wide for the socket.

Buy

A sylvania 1155 bulb. There's nothing to cross reference just buy. Just buy the sylvania bulb not any of the off bulbs.

...I just went to order it and saw that it's 12v. I thought these vacs used 120-130v for those sockets.

You

Worrying about wattage when it's the oem bulb for the machine. I bet you just find something to complain about. That's the advice you get if u don't like it dint ask.

I'm sorry. Maybe I don't know anything about electronics, but doesn't pumping 10x the rated voltage into a light bulb make it blow out?

Its

The bulb royal recommended. There's no 120 watt bulbs you use for your house. 120 watts is about 1 of the 5 amps your vacuum is pushing. The bulb will I guarantee it will work. The bulbs are on 120 volt system but 12 volts. Royal , kirby eureka and rainbow came from the factory with the sylvania 1156 bulb. It's a side marker for a trailer. If you Question it then why is the light in your house in your room 60 watts or 20 watts your not running a Jacob's ladder it's a dual polarity sylvania 1156 bulb.
The motors run 120 watts per amp. If you got a 350 watt motor 120 watts aren't going to no light bulb unless that light bulb has a beater bar.
Like I said it's the stock original equipment manufacturer oem bulb.
If that doesn't suffice your noodle you need to go to the dr.

I'll give it a try.

It's just that I'm confused by what you're posting. You recommended the 1155 bulb, but linked the 1156 on Amazon. In your last post you do call it the 1156.

The 1156 is 26.88W and 12V (not Watts). That's what confuses me since the bulbs I've been using are 15W and 130V. Since electrical outlets are also approx 120V and they seem to work, a bulb rated for 12V seems like it couldn't handle it regardless of wattage.

Nope

1156 bulb. This sight auto corrects everything.
The bulb I sent to you is the correct bulb...

Okay, then my vac doesn't have the original socket since it needs a double contact bulb, not single.
I guess that explains the confusion.

As far as I know,

Royal vacuums always used a double contact bulb. Later machines switched from 120V bulbs to 12V bulbs while still retaining 2 contacts. I don't think Royal ever used a single contact bulb. Kirby switched to 12V single contact bulbs with the introduction of the Classic Omega all the way to the Legend II.

DO NOT USE AN 1156 BULB IN A ROYAL!!!!

As for the wheels, best of luck with those ones from EcoVacuum. That guy is going to make a killing on those now that the originals have been discontinued. They're nothing more than roller skate wheels.

You

This bulb works. Is ba15d dual polarity. I used it on 505 509 513 ds80 and before I took away 8 amp screamer and a 8 amp 16 commercial royal.
It comes in 2 or 5 packs and there quality bulbs.

The EcoVacuum guy is a putz and I won't do business with them again if I can avoid it.
That said, his wheels work fine.

I had already ordered the Satco S4719 bulb. Installed it yesterday and didn't need to add drops of solder to make it fit solidly.

I wish I could get a Cirrus motor for my Bernina 6500C and get it fixed, but I do love my Royal as a substitute.
