The Hoover Spectrum Canister ones I wondered about, the Hoover Power MAX Canister ones too, Series 800, Series 850, Series 900, Series 950 for Spectrum and PowerMAX. Does anyone have picture of a Spectrum Canister to show? Can anyone show the Spectrum Canister displays if they have some, please?

royal displays

I have some of the Royal metal upright display cubes, whirlpool hex shaped, eureka two style cresents, Hoover cubes, and riccar cubes. I also have alot of the old posters. I need to get them framed and hung.

I love this blog, I would love to see advertisements.

This thread is awesome!!! I would love to see if anyone has any catalog pictures from Montgomery Wards, Best, Service Merchandise, Sears, etc.

I'm a power nozzle phanatic. So the canister power teams excite me the most!!

In the first picture- I love the Hoover Dimension 1000 and what looks like a Hoover Spirit in the right corner

The 3rd picture I can see on the far left, cutting off the page my green Eureka caniste. I would love to have the Eureka Express and vintage Panasonic Jet Flo in that.

For TJhooverman. I don't have any Spectrums but I do have 2 PowerMax's and a Windtunnel. I'll post.

This is a Hoover PowerMax Supreme S3530. This was actually more similar to a Futura but it has a "gas pump" style handle. The Futura style power head on this is a little bulkier than the traditional PowerMax head but agitator, base and wheel design are exactly the same between the two.

PowerMax Supreme S3530 with generic replacement agitator. Agitator works good but a little shorter in length compared to original Hoover, it took quite a while to be properly seated. I hope it holds up, I really like this vacuum and will be mad if an agitator ruins it. Hoover has shifted away from building their own agitators and is using these generic ones now too.

Hoover PowerMax Deluxe S3601. This is the real PowerMax style powernozzle except that this model did not come with a see through belt view window and this model did not come with the agitator on/off switch on hose. Otherwise it did have covered tool storage and Micro post motor filter.

Hoover PowerMax Deluxe S3601 with Hoover genuine agitator. Agitator has been washed again and motor bearings regreased since this photo was taken. This machine is for sale in Pennsylvania, not as good a condition compared to other Hoover PowerMax canisters I have access to. Got this at a yard sale, previous owners mistreated it. It does run well though but headlight has been disconnected, need to retest the power nozzle. Vac shop I took it to, thinks it was left to sit for quite a while and running it again will smooth out powerhead motor, repair wise its in great shape.

Hoover Spirit canister vacuum. Power nozzle for this I believe came off of a Celebrity but other than color this was the powerhead that this machine would have come with. I sold this machine a few months back as I refurbished it but I try to keep pictures of all the machines I've had.

Hoover Windtunnel Plus S3639 canister. Very impressed with this vacuum. Quiet operation, same attachments Hoover was known for with the rubber fingers on upholstery nozzle, on/off switch for agitator.

My parents bought a brand new Kenmore Progressive red 25513- I'll show pictures of that next. We didn't like the Progressive- crevice tool- too narrow, had to go over areas several times for pick up, upholstery nozzle very small and no bristles or litter pickers., yes there was a powermate junior on this machine but you can't use those on every upholstered surface. No suction duct extension for other side of brush around the belt. Lots of dirt getting swept up with nowhere to go on that side. Overall unimpressive machine, it had good suction, was quiet and canister was very maneuverable cleaning attachments made this machine extremely inefficient.

So I sold the Kenmore and got the Hoover Windtunnel. Quite pleased, Dramatic improvement.

This is the Kenmore we replaced. Kenmore Progressive 25513, nice color, quiet, good suction, agitator seemed powerful but poor overall cleaning performance, on pet hair and overall deep cleaning. Inefficient tools, they need to rethink this one. Bare floor tool is awful. There are no side support brushes, so when pushed forward, it leans forward and plastic scratches floors, brushes are very short. A shame.

A shame! Suction does not reach the far end of that power nozzle, around the belt, so everything swept up on that side gets airborne. Terrible design on CenTec's behalf.

Hi Rob,

Thanks for your participation in this thread -- but please keep in mind that this is the vingate forum, anything newer than 1980 shouldn't be posted in this forum or within any threads in this forum.

Hi Fred

Sorry Fred, sorry about the modern vac pictures. I was trying to reply to TJhoovermans request for some Hoover PowerMax styles. No they are not vintage, the Hoover PowerMax series was 1990's. The Hoover Spectrum may have started around 1989.

At my shop in Pomona Ca. Just as you walked in, on the far faceing wall I had painted
the freeway system and neighboring towns. But instead of putting cars on the freeways
I painted vacuum cleaners. With the above saying "Thinking of becoming a witch, why not try our company car". LOL Hopester
