My friend Michael bought a pair of vacuums listed on eBay for £60, one was a Hoover turbopower U2194 and the other was a Panasonic MCE465. He bought the Hoover for £30 and I bought the Panasonic for £30 so we went half and half basically, he wanted the Hoover and I wanted the Panasonic as I already have the exact same turbopower anyway.

My model MCE465 is probably from around 2001/2002 but not certain. This model was two models bellow the very last model, which was the MCE468, and I believe the MCE468 was the very last 400 series Panasonic to be manufactured in Spain. This style cleaner is still on sale today, but has a different model number, no headlight (which was on the earlier 400's I believe) no brushroll on/off, no variable power (again certain 400 models only) and the newest ones are of course made in china and not Spain.

The MCE465 features - bag full indicator, 1500 watts, automatic height adjustment, edge cleaning, brushroll on/off and "clean filtration" I think it is a brilliant vacuum, it is really very good and it agitates very well, I did have one of these style machines brand new in 2007, it was ok, but not as good as this one, and with it's 1500 motor it sure is quite and very powerful.

Anyway I have talked enough, here are some pictures of it, and by the way, my phone camera makes it look like it is bottle green when it is really a lovely emerald green colour.

I will kill two birds with one stone......

There is the brushroll on/off and there you can see the deep scratches on the side of the cleaner head, it is like this on either side. :(

I did open it up to the motor to have a look how clean or dirty it was and when I first opend it up, this is what it looked like, very clean, I only really had to give it a little vacuum out with a dusting brush.

That is good of you posting all the pictures, I for one haven't really seen the Panasonic uprights before so they were informative.

That brush roll does look good and the clutch would be a great feature I imagine.

I think you are right in saying that would have been one of the last Panasonics to be made in Spain because I'm sure my 2004 MC-E8011 says made in China on it. Shall have to check but that's what my memory is telling me.

Well I just vacuumed with my MC-E8011 and while I was at it I checked the ID sticker, on which it actually says it was made in Spain, as yours was. Says something for Spanish manufacturing I suppose, because the body of it is scuffed and scratched very badly but it is still all intact and working.
