Hi, Here is my late 80s/early 90s Panasonic cylinder. This is the first one of these I have ever seen in person. I've just finished giving it a quick clean. It seems to of come up quite well. It has good suction and seems to be well built.
It also has all the tools still. This is the mid range model as the MC-E96 was the BOL model and the MC-E98 being the TOL model. I believe this was the TOL range with the compact series(MC-E61,MC-E83,MC-E89n) range being the lower range. Well from what the catalogue at the time states...

A nice edition to the collection...

Hope you like the pic.

Hi

Hi Chris. What made you think it was me who bought it lol?:o)

It was collection only but he did say if I arranged a courier he would box it up for me. He put it in a massive box!! About the size a a washing machine. I had to search to get a decent postage quote.

I'm glad to see one of those again, they're actually a very neat machines. So sad that Panasonic don't make vacuums like this anymore, that was quality!

P.S: I'd like to see the catalogues if you have them.

These Panasonic cleaners were really in the league of Miele and others. In fact, better than others as the Bosch and AEG cleaners of the same period were not as good quality as these Panasonic machines. The Panasonic was also a good bit cheaper than the other top end cleaners too. They gave Hoover and Electrolux a run for their money as well. I have seen this happen before. When Rowenta started selling vacuum cleaners during the 1980s they were a fine machine and people seemed happy to ditch their usual brand of vacuum cleaner in favour of a Rowenta.
