Hey everyone, well after reading other posts, I have decided to remove the Electrolux ultra one from my list of vacuums that I want to obtain, however, I am still interested in this Panasonic vacuum. It has gotten good reviews, but wondering if anyone has used it, and if so, what do you think? The price seems reasonable for what you get, I've heard that bags are hard to find for it, and the speed control is on the hose, that concerns me somewhat as it means there are circuit boards that can fail, but wondering what everyone thinks of this one. I think it's Panasonic's top of the line canister.

If you read this review on Amazon.com you'll see the owner refers to two types of dust bags available for this Panasonic vacuum.

These are great vacuums. They are one of the best budget canister vacs in the market today, they have very powerful suction and good agitation on the power head. Filtration I would say are decent on these vacs as long as you use HEPA bags and replace both the motor and HEPA filters often like you're supposed to. And these are built pretty good like you may have this vacuum around for a long time. The bags are really not hard to find, you can find them anywhere online(especially ebay). However the biggest downfall to this machine is that the wire is reinforced so you got to be careful to the hose not crushing it or you are going to have to buy a brand new $120 hose which is quite expensive for these vacuums. And yes the handle has some wiring that can wear down over time but it can be fixable instead of buying a brand new hose on these.
Take a look on the MC-CG917 that you can get for about a $100 off and only difference is that the color is green and it comes with a turbine head but as for performance, I think they both run and perform about the same really and they both use optiflow technology

It is a great machine. Relatively quiet. great suction. power nozzle a little flimsey, but good.
I got mine on ebay, new never used with two bags (which are quite pricy); damaged box for $30 + $8.95 shipping at Karensbarn on ebay. The opti-flow technology is basically a bag cage that allows the suction to surround the bag, thus filling it up. The HEPA material bag is very good, be careful to assure the hose is firmly snapped in place as the bag can leak around the collar where the hose attaches.
It is, of course, not my only vacuum, but I use it quite often. Built in North America (Mexico) instead of China.

Thanks for the info. It sounds like the hose is not crush proof. I usually don't step on my hoses, but it sounds like the quality of these vacuums is not as good as a Sebo, Miele, Simplicity or Aerus. Maybe I will give it a bit more thought, of course, it is a bit cheaper than the other canisters I have, and you usually get what you pay for. Or, in many cases, you don't always get what you pay for, but you never get what you don't pay for.
