Panasonic MC 6347

Not long ago I got this Panasonic Performance Plus MC 6347 along with several other machines. I believe this was a base model in the MC 6300 series, as the fancier ones have electronic control panels on the upper part of the case. This one didn't need anything but a good cleaning. Color is maroon with brown trim and back. Nice long cord. Labels says "assembled in USA of US and Japanese components, Matsushita Floor Care Co." Later models say "Matsushita Home Appliance Company of America." Takes a Panasonic U3 bag but the older plain U bag will work. Very nice machine; well-made. I've taken it upstairs and I think I'll use it in the upper rooms.

I like your panasonic! I've come to like those a good bit. They seem to do a pretty good job, aren't loud, and I like the look! That's an interesting color, it looks good in it!

Here's a MC-6357 version. I like this particular Performance Plus model the best. I know someone who has one and and I think it's a very fun machine to use. At first I wasn't a huge fan of the speed selector but I've grown to like it. I like the black color on this model better than the usual brownish/maroonish color on these. One time I saw a video on Youtube years ago, there was one person who showed his entire collection and he had one of these but I remember it had a 12 amp motor instead of a 8.5 amp motor and I couldn't tell if it was either green or black (My guess black). I haven't found out what the model number was on that one.

These do remind me of a MC-V6307 that I used to own for sometime, it was similar to the MC-6347 with the same color but it had a "JET-FLO" floating style head and it was 12 amps. I should've kept that machine.

Not sure this applies...

but on some labels, there is a thin clear-ish film that easily peels away revealing a much better looking label. This will help when the thin coat is scored or damaged. If that is the case, you may be able to clear coat the label underneath by taping off the surrounding areas.

I have done this before when it applied. Really improves the appearance.

Yeah they do have those screen protectors just like you would see on most cell phones. I usually leave mine on but I would only take it off if it gets either damaged or scratched

Got my dream machine finally!

At last after years of searching, I founded the MC-6357! Interesting enough, the one I picked up is actually green instead of black. I thought they had always been black. My guess is that the earlier models were black then they later went to green, very strange. Nonetheless, I'm still glad that I have it now. Also, that model from YouTube I was telling about was actually the MC-6377 and it was maroon all this time after I watched that video again. And I once again own a MC-V6307 I was telling about as well, I'll never get rid of it this time!

Anyways while I'm on here, this is a MC-6367 that was listed on eBay kinda recently. It has the electronic speed controller and dirt sensor. Didn't realized they were maroon like the MC-6347. Because the predecessor model, the MC-6337, was grey like the MC-6327 while the MC-6317 was maroon.

Alex, congrats on finding your dream machine! Like you said, don't let it go this time.

I actually knew someone who had Gary's machine, the MC 6347. Really nice, well built machine, and those Panasonic uprights clean really well too. Panasonic, as far as I'm concerned, should be considered a legendary name in vacuums like Electrolux is. They did A LOT to improve the Hoover Dial A Matic design! And they were such high quality, and always coming out with new, innovative features....yet the prices were so reasonable for the average consumer.

The ONLY "bad" flaw these Panasonic uprights (and the copycats) had, was that when the bag starts to fill, the dirt falls right to the bottom of the bag, and "smothers" the motor intake so air can't flow as freely as when the bag was new and the intake was unimpeded. There is a easy fix for that though - Use a HEPA Cloth bag, take some binder clips, roll the bag up and make it slightly shorter at the bottom. Or, use a genuine Miele AirClean GN bag. Reducing the length of the bag makes it so that it can't weigh on the motor filter and therefore can't impede airflow. Just be careful to not let the bag get too full.

Definitely agree with you! I wish Panasonic was more commonly sold here in North America, I think they were one of the greatest vacuum cleaner companies in the industry and that's one of the reasons why I named my username after Panasonic Thankfully my MC-6357 originally came from the old vacuum store that was a Panasonic dealer until my buddy retired and closed his shop 10 years ago since the service sticker is still there. My best chance of finding the Panasonics for my collection would be in my area, I'm hoping that one person with the black MC-6357 I was telling about earlier would still have it where I could snatch it up if that ever happens because that is a childhood machine of mine. But overall, like you said, these are excellent machines. I really like that they've upgraded the belt where it just uses the UB-4 belt and not both the UB-2/UB-7 belts like what my MC-V6307 uses. And the edge cleaning brushes are really cool, something that my MC-V6307 doesn't have. The only thing I don't really care about with my MC-6357 is the electronic speed controller, thankfully my MC-V6307 doesn't have one.
