I've been having an issue with my Panasonic Jetflo MC 5115. The belt keeps sliping over to rub on the side. There is a bunch of black rubber residue on the side of the base. Anyone have some tips on a remedy?

I've had vacuums that do this, the belt is stretched so its trying to slip off the spindle, the black residue is where the belt has come into contact with the case. Try changing the belt

Must be a panasonic thing. It happens on both of mine, as well as the carpet pro Panasonics I use at work.

I had a old panasonic that had a flat belt and large O ring stlye. the flat belt wore quiker, but I had too replace the pullyes and replace the ends of the brusroll..the bronze bushings had worn a bit funny and were pulling.
