Hey Guys

Am I the only one who thinks the 305 is a much nicer more modern looking cleaner than the 26 and would have been beter as the mid range model and the 26 would have been more suited as the budget model??

Ah yes, but that look is only skin deep. The 26 had the top side tool conversion and the "spring" loaded rear wheels that adjusted to carpet thickness differences. The 305 had fixed rear wheels and the belt had to be removed to attach the tools. The 305 also was built with either/or cast aluminum bases or a cheap and flimsy stamped steel base. Really the 26 while the look was different, the 305 had many less features. I believe too that the 26 had a ball bearing motor versus the 305's sleeve bearing motor. It was really worth the extra money to move up to a 26 or better yet, a 150 or model 60!

I would have to agree with you on the Model 26 being a better

Yes, the model 26 was a better machine, but the 305 wins the contest for styling. Did the 305 have a clear plastic cover over the headlight the same as the model 28? I wonder if Hoover offered the Hygienisac system for the 305 as an option? I thought that was only available post-war starting with the model 61....
