I've had these pics on my camera for a couple of weeks now so it's show and tell time today - finally!

I found this at a local shop that is closing up after 44 years in business. This was on a shelf for display and missing it's bottom plate. I finally asked about it and was told I could have it for $20. Needless to say I grabbed it quick and brought it home. I wasn't sure if it was brand new or refurbished for sale. Turns out, it's been run a couple of times, I suspect for demonstration. It was very dusty but otherwise no real signs of use inside at all. I think it's from the mid-80's?

40th Anniversary Edition Oreck

The Oreck on the right is one I found at a garage sale face-down in the grass. I asked about it and was told that they could never get to pick up very well and gave up. It was mine for the taking and after resisting the excited sales pitch for the tiny Oreck canister vac, I scurried away. Brought it home, took the piece of paper out of the air inlet and it works perfectly.

You are Lucky

If I remember correctly that is a model 5071 that followed the first Eureka Self Propelled in 1982. It is an awesome
machine. Front load attachments. You should be able to find
a bottom plate that will work on it. As they are a common item and fit from that circa.
Congratulations. Enjoy your Eureka ESP, for the 80's

Two great finds. That Eureka is just AWESOME! You won't find another vacuum that will clean as well as it does.

The Oreck is a nice machine as well...some people...as simple as an Oreck is to take apart and repair...thrown out...how wasteful...

Wow Greg, that is a beautiful Eureka!! Like the Oreck as well. I would say that the vacuum gods have been smiling down on you!! Love the night shot too!!!

Your Eureka is gorgeous! So is the Oreck 40th Anniversary Edition. Just make sure that your fan housing isn't cracked. When that machine was produced (2002) Oreck was having a problem with defective fan housings. If it's cracked, Oreck will replace it for free. That was a nice find, and for the price, couldn't be beat. I was lucky enough to get an original Oreck CVR-4000 that way.

Fab!

That Eureka is wonderful!
Love the way it lights up the logo... there aren't nearly enough appliances in this world that light up that way..

And, that vacuum will clean the hell out of any rug!

Congrats!

Greg,
Thrifting carma strikes again.
Love your great finds.
I agree with Fred, the Eureka's are unbelievable carpet cleaners.
So cathartic to use .... love 'em.
Great photo of the three ... all good machines in their own right.
Thanks for sharing.
Let's talk soon.
Miss your voice!!!

Greg I think I have a set of attachments for your Eureka upright that are near mint condition. I got them at a thrift store because of their condition. I didn't have a machine to use them on but felt that with time they would come in handy. Let me check them out and take a pic they even came in the Eureka box. Ryan [email protected]
