Our annual Memorial Day Cookout was just Arlee and me this year, with Doggie and LoLo watching the proceedings very attentively. Dixie Sue slept through all the excitement.

Here are 18 photos. They're sized down fairly small so they shouldn't take too long to load.

I hope all-y'all had meaningful Memorial Day commemorations as well. I don't ever forget that I have the freedom to have a cookout like this, whenever I feel like it, because that freedom was fought for. And won.

Looks like everyone was away when you posted this, Charles. Thanks for reminding us what Memorial Day, which had its origins in the South in 1865 and in the North in 1868 shortly after the Civil War ended, is mainly about. Incidentally, although it had first been referred to as Memorial Day in 1882, it was widely known as Decoration Day, due to the decorating of graves, until being officially declared to be Memorial Day by Federal law in 1967. I too, thank God for the freedoms our United States of America enjoys in part due to the service men and women who gave their lives defending us and our way of life and all it affords us. Three cheers for them and the Red, White, and Blue: Hip Hip Hooray ... Hip Hip Hooray ... Hip Hip Hooray!!!

As for your annual picnic with Arlee, Doggie, LoLo, and Dixie Sue looks like it was a success: sunny weather, delicious-looking food, beautiful scenery, relaxing, and enjoying each others' company in peace and freedom.

Great post.
