My roommates and I have been finding some unique stuff recently at the goodwills.

He is a very techy computer guru who runs many servers out of our house, does networking at develops software for hobbies. Also a licensed Ham radio operator.

So here are a few of our favorite pieces at our apartment (among dozens and dozens of high end computers and such)

A few vintage computers to note, a 1982 Xerox with matching dot matrix printer in complete mint condition. No program discs can be found so its almost useless to use. We have searched everywhere.

The second computer is an old Apple IIe, a craigslist find. Its in incredible shape, although one of the boards is bad. Looking to find someone who can repair it, or clone it.

Last is our heavy beast. A 1952 National ham radio receiver. Just got done with a complete restoration. We do not have an antenna powerful enough to broadcast very well. It needs a true tower. Very beautiful machine.

Do have some vintage audio equipment, and some modern with vinyl (LOOOVE collecting new and old vinyl) Some reel to reel players and turntables.

We love our high end speakers/sound systems. Have new Klipsch RP-280FA speakers and a Klipsch 12" sub hooked up to a decent Onkio receiver. Tube preamp is on its way! The receiver is not quite powerful enough to handle the new speakers though. An upgrade is in order soon. Would love a vintage Marrantz.

I've often wondered when old PC's would become collectible. They've been routinely junked for so long that I imagine some of the early ones are becoming a bit rare, especially in working order. Of course, not all of them will have the cachet of an original Apple I logic board, hand soldered by the Woz himself, but I'm sure there are some interesting ones out there, at fairly inexpensive prices.

Mmhm for sure! This Xerox we got at a steal price considering it's going for thousands in considerably rougher shape elsewhere. The smithsonian has an example on display. Curious to see what condition it is in compared to ours.

Somebody at a goodwill or Salvation Army came across one of the first Apple 1 motherboards. There were only a few made. Turns out it's worth a million plus.
I like the klipsch speakers. My first REAL pair of speakers were a set of 1999 klipsch heresys. Powered by a marantz 7300. I sold them and bought a pair of b&w 804 nautilus. If I has to do it all over again , I would have saved my money and kept the klipsch

Miskini!
I have a set of nautilus 803 cabinets I'm looking to fill, what is your view on the 804 speakers?
My main set right now is a set of b&w DM-630 and I love them! As far as the klipsch go those look like the reference series so far I have read and heard good things about them. While the vintage marantz is a good option try going for a newer rotel, I have and use an RSX-1055 from 2003 with the b&w and while the amp section is 100w x2 @ 8ohm it is plenty to piss off quite a few neighbors. Although I do not drive it at those volumes it sure is worth the money and weight which as some of us audiophiles say, "weight can be a very good thing when it comes to receivers and amplifiers".

Used to have a Vic-20-the typing of the commands-or using the cassette player.Good introduction to the computer age!Remember the goofy things you could make the computer do after typing the commands or playing the program into it from the cassette deck.

It depends on your room. I would stick with what you got. In all honesty, when I purchased my nautilus, I couldn't really hear that much of a difference between the diamonds and the dm 604's. Sad to say,for the amount of money, I'm a little disappointed. The biggest difference to me was the price. Maybe my ears are not that refined. Don't get me wrong, they sound great. If you have to get something new, look into goldenear technologies triton 1's or 2's. They are, hands down, the best sounding speakers, I've heard, in their price range. Read the reviews, and go listen to them in person.

Alphonse, I'll have to check them out!! I am a huge fan of the nautilus series but again like you said and I highly agree, it depends on the room. The nautilus 802 were phenomenal sounding when I paid a visit to audio classics here in vestal NY and that is when I knew I wanted them. The DM-630 are wonderful sounding and I paid after repairs a total of 250 for them so I really cannot complain.
