I saw the prototype of this last year. This year I finally got to play with the finished product. It feels leaps and bounds over the cordless Riccar R10cv .
Having lower battery placement and a lifetime belt make all the difference.
If you're a fan of the xl21 you'll love this machine.

How odd they took its styling after the Axis - I was sure they would have used the Magnesium because its more "futuristic" and lightweight.

@huskyvacs the xl 21 platform doesn't require as fast of a motor as the LW platform. Also I believe the single row brush strip would not clean as well once you add a battery on there which would also throw the whole machine off balance if it was a magnesium.

It would almost seem they're moving away from the LW platform all together.

The vacuum place in Greenville can carry these-he is an Oreck dealer. He has concerns about the battery placement-it could be hit by low furniture.Open areas-fine.The Riccar-simplicity runs from 40V and has a longer runtime.May suggest he orders one so it can be tried out. From the tests here looks like a competent vacuum.Other than the Riccar-Simplicity this is the only other cordless vacuum that REALLY works and has a bag instead of a dust cup and filters that clog. And of course the MESSY dumping and filter cleaning.

Love these lightweight uprights!

Might be best to redesign the bottom of the bag so it can hold the battery in a more protective casing that won't be damaged when hit while cleaning under furniture.

@crazykirbydude the Simplicity cordless s10cv I believe you're speaking of Is long discontinued. Replaced by the R10cv2.

I would say for my testing both corded and cordless units.
The xl21 design is superior mostly due to brush roller design and noise mitigation.

I would say specifically in the cordless versions of the Tacony upright.
The battery is placed high up in the rear which makes the vacuum a little bit more awkward and heavy in the hand.
Noise medication on Tacony products has always been bad.
Quality is always questionable as well.

You should be able to obtain the oreck cordless 20% at sometime if you wash their website or maybe even deeper discounts if you befriend an Oreck dealer.

Hope that helps you between those two.

I'm looking forward to adding one of these machines to my collection sometime. The battery placement looks a bit odd at first, but it makes sense. I've always been a fan of cordless uprights for collecting purposes, ever since my old Westinghouse Unplugged.

I believe these have a two speed motor similar to some of the corded Oreck models, is that correct?

Just bought one

Justed picked up a new one on eBay, I don’t care about the warranty. But anyway, it’s freakin great, I tried both this and the Riccar version with both regular and stiff brush strips and I still like the Oreck better. First off it’s much taller making it more comfortable for me to use, it’s also quieter than the Riccar version. Pick up seems the same, I used the Oreck crystal aroma which is impossible to vacuum up thoroughly, i think the oreck might have had the edge but they were very close. As said above if you like the xl21 series you’ll love this.
