Well got this vacuum free...it won't end up that way by the looks of it!
Permission to throw up in your mouth a little bit.

the belt is broken and that is one nasty brush roll; which is thankfully seized up so i pitched it without further ado.
Seems a safe guess the previous owner had a fuzzy red carpet.[this post was last edited: 3/6/2014-11:50]

The damage inventory so far:

.
one belt
one brush roll
one wheel
one bulb
one bag
2 Dozen paper towels
cleanser

But now i can store it with some peace-of-mind until the necessary parts are gathered.
This was a little old lady vac that dates to 2002, if i read the label correctly.
It came with a dozen bags and a new belt for a Panasonic which will be used (obviously) on another machine.
Motor runs like a top {phew!} probably should have checked that from the get go.

Yikes! Often find these with little old ladies, I have a few times.Often broken belt too, they don't seem to notice its not picking up

A nice little surprise. I bought a new brush roll and 6 new belts off Amazon for the princely sum of $13 delivered. I also bought the needed spare parts and some extras in a lot on Ebay (sent all the way from Hawaii to NYC), including: wheels, motor brushes, bulbs, screws manual etc...for $11 delivered.
So all in this vac cost me $24. It looks and works very nice and will make a great gift to our friends with a well trafficked (kids, kids, and more kids) lake place. Their large cabin has lots of stairs and wall to wall low pile carpet like this vac was designed for.
Ok, what was the surprise then?
Well, nestled in that very carefully packed package from Hawaii were these lovely shells, stones and beach glass. Imagine, the shipping must have been the better part of what i paid and they still put this in as a good will gesture, how cool is that?[this post was last edited: 3/10/2014-16:41]

Yikes, on the Oreck. A first glance it looked like they sucked up a squirrel. lol

My grandmother had red carpet that used to fuzz like that. Nasty.
