Oreck is now even more crazy

The new Oreck looks cool. I would surmise that it suggests the company is doing well, not dying. Aerus never comes up with anything new; they act like they're dying. Air-Way never came up with anything new and died. Oreck's top-of-the-line machine is really good, and this might make it even more appealing. I have the older XL21 version, and it really is a fantastic vacuum. It picks up a lot of dirt and makes the carpet look great. John Pease has one, too, but there's no dirt in his carpet or anywhere else in the house for it to pick up.

The shark navigator........

i have been wanting one. They must be pretty user friendly abd clean well because reviews of them on almost ALL websites have 5 stars....

if you want my opinion......

the only decent oreck that was EVER produced was the CVR4000 , after that style of cleaner went out oreck went out. probably the only thing the oreck has going for it is its one of the last direct air uprights, besides that the fan is to small to create sufficient air-flow , and the brushes on the brush roll are to soft to create any vibration. just thought id put my two cents in, after its only my opinion

maybe crazy maybe not.

i have to agree with some of these folks that say that going with this new design in a sense is good for oreck at capturing the modern market, but in the same sense, oreck was originally and always should be a commercial market, they made the first vacuums for hotels and such and they dominated that market to some degree, so i think in one way orecks new vacuum is for the modern eye a nice approach but in the other as i said before. the new design to me detracts from the true feel of what an oreck really is.

"the only decent oreck that was EVER produced was the CVR4000"

Okay, now I have to ask why? What does it have that the later models lacked? I mean, don't get me wrong, I love the CVR and later XL-4000 to putter around with, but it can't hold a candle to the power of the XL-21/Platinum or even the classic line in terms of deep cleaning ability. The motor as well as the fan are much smaller in this model, and sadly, except for the roller brush and belts, everything else for this model (including bags) are NLA. They were actually produced for Oreck by a company called McDonald Electric in West Germany. You can see it briefly at about :10 in the video below. All subsequent Oreck models (up until Oreck started producing them in-house in 1997) would be manufactured by Bissell.
