My only issue with the bag dock

was the latch mechanism. The plastic hook for the latch tends to lose its ability to stay tightly snapped. I like the way Riccar/Simplicity overcame this issue with their lightweight direct air uprights. They attached the plastic latch mechanism to the bag collar, therefore there's nothing to wear out because every time you use a new bag, you get a new latch mechanism.

The XL-21 platform was great for it's time and I'm sure the Elevate platform performs about the same, but we're talking about a basic design template that's at least 15 years old. I want to like Orecks, I really do. I just wish they wouldn't rest on their laurels so much.

I just wish they wouldn't rest on their laurels so much.

There's no laurels to rest on. It's a totally new company with TTI at the helm. It breaks my heart because whether you loved them or hated them they were up until recently still an American-made product. I just hope parts will still be readily available for the older series (like say an XL-100C).

Most of these units are still American made. The Magnesium series are made in China as well as their air purifiers, the Surface Scrub and Revitalize carpet washer. The Orbiter is still made here as well. Most are parts are made in China and on the machines that are made in Cooke ville they will say "Made in the USA with globally sourced components". Just the same as Tacony. TTI is finally stepping up their game and starting to finally churn out some good products.

Paid a visit to Oreck of Orem..

And tried out the new Elevate Uprights! They all seem really nice, and are fresh and modern looking. They Conquer seems to clean just like my XL21, since it is really the XL21 style internals with a new hood and bag. The new LED lights are really slick looking. And, the new remote switch is nice, too. One thing I noticed while I was in there was how nice the couple that runs and owns the store is! I have been to many nice vacuum stores with many nice people, but this was exceptional! Great customer service, for sure.

I hate that Kenmore vac even though I use it for vacing the barn floors.  It was a dumpster find used really hard.  The Regina ElectrikBroom PowerTeam I used to have was better.  I also use a Electrolux Automatic E (above-floor only) in the barn

The barn has a dirt floor on ground level & fully carpeted on the upper 2 levels
