Ever since I noticed them, I wanted one. As of today, I own 3. All 3 are DTX 1400's.
First was a super trashed parts vac given to me free with only the hose, no attachments, dead circuit board and one wheel missing. This one I opened up and fiddled with the circuit board (then removed it). Got stored. Replaced the wheel, 2 of 3 attachments and it is just a straight suction unit.

Second was a gift from a friend, had everything except the attachments. The same day I bought them at an Oreck store for very little. Cleaned, tried out and put with collection.

3rd, sold to me by a man who said the power nozzle did not work. All I could figure out was the hose connecting tube was out of round. So it did not attach securely. Now it works fine.
I love that it is very quiet and yet very strong.

If Oreck stops selling bags, Philips Oslo bags are identical. My units resemble the Philips TC739.
I want a non-electric hose for Vac#1. I rewired the vac. to run without the circuit board and power to the nozzle. I still may restore power to the hose.

Thanks for reading.

One more thing....

I removed the hepa filter cartridge material and replaced it with new hepa filter material.
I had found 3 large hepa filters for some large equipment at Goodwill. Sealed and easy to cut apart. Used a sealant to prevent blow around.

I would like to try an Oreck DutchTech vacuum. There is a customer at Greenville Sew&vac who has one.She won't give it up!!!Mike was trying to get it for me by offering her a Meile or Sebo canister. She is sticking with that Oreck.Something must be good about them if a customer won't give theirs up!

I've always thought they were interesting too! Kinda rare beasts though. I believed they were rebadged machines, Oreck did not actually make them did they?

The canister part was made in the Netherlands by Dutch appliance giant Philips. If you google “Philips Oslo vacuum” or “stofzuiger Philips Oslo” you will see the identical cleaner minus the power nozzle.

It was actually tested by Consumer Reports when it appeared on the North American market, and it did very well, if I remember correctly. Europe always knew how to make a quiet, powerful canister/cylinder vac.

Updates

I just received a 4th. Oreck Dutchteck in green! Great shape but the bulb in the Power Nozzle was out. These PN's are made by Wessel Werk (German). This will be the second one I took apart. I mean really took apart. There was some evidence of possible electrical issues which I thought blew the bulb. I dismantled and replaced tiny wires, connectors, ballast, starter base and bulb connectors. Allowed me to scrub the inner hood. All got replaced, new bulb and it works fine. I suspect because of the extensive scoring to the top hood, the bulb broke from impact.

Vac#1, restored the power to the hose so now I can use a PN. Also added the remaining tool (crevice) to complete the set.

Found another clone online: Nilfisk New Line. Of course their bags interchange with Dutchtech and Philips Oslo. Menalux makes cloth Hepa bags for these.

Talking about Hepa bags, I stripped the collar of a mystery hepa bag, and replaced the collar with a Dutchtech collar. Used a glue gun.

Thanks for reading.
