Oreck Canister

Hey!

I am getting a oreck Buster Be with wheels and i have a guy who is going to put a power nozzle port in it so i can use it witha powerhead! Well he just sold his last oreck powerhead and cannot get more does ANYBODY have one i can buy!? I would kinda like one that goes on an Oreck DUAL TECH canister. Does anybody have one or know where to find a good one???? PLEASE LET ME KNOW! [email protected] EMAIL ME PLEASE!!!

I have an Oreck Buster B, and I don't think you will be happy with its performance. The motor is so small and wimpy. It may lift a 16 lb. bowling ball, but it has lots of trouble "lifting" dirt and grit. Putting a power nozzle on it seems a little bit far fetched, but that's just me. Tim

Is the Oreck you are talking about the Iron Man Canister? Its steel and looks like a giant hair dryer on wheels, or the little plastic one you carry around over your shoulder? If its the plastic one, I wouldn't spend too much money on it if I were you. The plastic ones have very little suction and the exhaust from the back of the machine is annoying, and the tools that it comes with are cheap crap. I dont know how much dirt you will get out of a rug cleaning with it even if it does have a power nozzle. In my honest opinion, if you are getting it dirt cheap and just want it for your collection then I would say go for it, but if its a costly investment, then I suggest you wait and spend your money on a much better machine.

The Oreck Buster "B" vac I have-is this like what the power nozzle would be used on-the bags in these machines are TINY-A powernozzle would fill them quickly-you would practically need a box of them to vacuum your home!My Oreck canister vac-came with the Oreck upright-also spews the dust right back out after it picks the dirt up.The machine now sits in the closet.The Oreck upright is more useful-got it to round out my collection.got it new.The little canister also comes with a sling so you can use it like a "Hip vacuum"sort of handy-just wished it performed better-more power and better filtration.What model Oreck upright did the wheeled Buster Bee come with-or was that machine sold separately?I haven't seen one.Mine is white.Oh yes-on the white models-the Vac Hospital here has had to replace motors in a few of these-as the bag gets too full-the motor quickly overheats.Hope the Wheeled model doesn't have that problem.

the buster-b is good as a toy vacuum, or cleaning the couch. but use it to vacuum the stairs or a family car... stock up on bags. i had one, the motor died on it, kinda new too! i would NEVER pay full price for it. the Hoover Portapower is a sensible/practical alternative to the buster b (if you dont mind a cloth bag!). better motor, tougher cabinet and reasonable price too!

You can get paper bag inserts for Hoover Portapower cleaners-forget the type#-the computer guy here uses a Portapower to clean the toner from printers and uses the paper and cloth bags.I have also used it to clean transmitters-the small bag does fill quickly.The Portapower is a FAR better machine than the Oreck.And the Portapowers have longer,heavier GROUNDED cords!Would meet OSHA safety specs.

As a matter of fact, Hoover made the first compact canister for Oreck in the '70's. I have such a machine. It was called the Power Pak, and it was a PortaPower with the Oreck name. I would advise staying away from the Oreck Dutchtech canister though. They are expensive, problematic, and extremely difficult to service.

I know the Dutchtech is a pricey machine, but it looks interesting. Any idea who makes it? I have heard good things about it as far as performance goes, and that it is very quiet.

It was made by Philips, the same Holland based company that now owns Magnavox, and makes Norelco Razors. I'm not sure, but I want to say it's been at least 10 years since Philips manufactured this machine with their own name on it. I don't think it ever came to the U.S. with the Philips name as none of their other vacuums do, but it's quite different from their current machines. Needless to say, it looks old compared to their new ones. It works perfectly well, but for what Dave Oreck wants to charge for it I'd expect something a little more.

The Portapower uses either type N or some have a cloth bag.

I agree on teh Oreck beeing very weak, I have one to match my upright, but I never use it.

I also agree with the comments to the Dutchtech, its nice but over priced. They are also a pain to work on.
