Oreck's eBay store is offering brand new Axis uprights for $99 with free shipping. Considering the previous retail price of these and the Pilot predecessor, I think this is an amazing deal. I imagine TTI is trying to liquidate some inventory, but I could be totally off-base. Is this model worth purchasing? My minimal experience with an XL21 was pretty positive, and Orecks are great at transitioning from carpets to hard floors. Does anyone here have any experience with this model? I know it has the standard XL21 motor, but the swivel fan housing I know little about in terms of durability.

IIRC the Axis was an exclusive model to QVC. I worked in an Oreck store for several years and we never had them. That's a great buy, especially if you still get the 3yr. warranty, any Oreck store would stand behind it. I too have and am a fan of the XL21, which motor and brushroll should be the same, however, when they changed models to the Platinums on, the plastics cheapened as well as the outer bag material. We did sell a lot of the Pilots with the swivel, and most of the fan housing issues with that feature, were found on flat out abused housekeeper or residential owned machines. We collectors take good care of ours, so don't foresee you having problems. I also am a fan of the genuine odor control cloth bags, never leak dust when changed properly. Try one, you can always ship it back if you don't like it!

That is quite a deal!!

I bought mine off QVC for $199 so that is quite a deal. I've had it for two years now or maybe three, and have not had any problems. I have used it as a daily driver for probably what adds up to be a year of use. I really like it because it is the only vacuum in my collection I can store under the bed because it has such a low profile.

That's an excellent deal. I paid $99 for my Oreck Pilot at Big Lots about two years ago and I still don't regret it. It works great on all of our floors, and even pulls itself on the deep shag. My mom loves using it! You would not be disappointed.

Won't ship??

I wouldn't see why unless you have a P.O. Box or a APO. As long as you have a verifiable physical address, and it is connected to your payment method as verified i the Continental U.S. I can't see why they wouldn't ship.

Have you tried posting a question to the seller to see if maybe their automatic system has some parameters entered incorrectly?

Thanks

I needed a good inexpensive HEPA bagged vac. to use for Capture dry carpet cleaning to keep allergens under control!! The shark would get clogged too quick. Says it'll be here weds..

Indeed Mark...maybe TTI thought they low-balled too many of them! Now the best buy is the Insight at 149.00, still a good buy, they have a higher quality outer bag than the Axis, but do not have the swivel. It is still a form of the XL21 though and should clean as well. I have one of the XL21's with the breast cancer ribbon on it, a gift from my buddy Phillip. There was a time back in the day that Oreck had that model, and the lower model all in pink, made me think of Pepto Bismol, ugh. We called it the Barbie vacuum, and it did sell occasionally to a younger female demographic, who thought they rocked. The XL21's were the standard colors with just the ribbon on the bag. At that time David Oreck was a contributor to the Susan Komen Foundation and those were dedicated models.

Well whoever got them for $99 was a steal! I should have driven over there since its a half hour away from me. I know the outlet store is always bizzy too.
