I found this at Big Lots for $99 and it was just too good of a deal to pass up. It is a one speed 'step switch', which I really like. It has the helping handle which is also nice. The main reason I got it was because of the neat bag design. My only complaint is that the cord is quite short for an Oreck, but all and out, I love it.

I know a lot of people that say they hate Oreck, but I own quite a few and really do like them. They are especially good on bare floors and rugs. I use them to clean all of the bath mats in the house because they don't tear the rug up. Here it is:

I like Orecks...

I have an Oreck 9200 and I love it. It's great for quick cleaning when I don't have energy to use one of my Kirbys. Orecks are not 'deep cleaners', but will get the crud off the floor. I want to add an XL21, or something like it, to my collection.

I would really recommend the XL21. They have a much quieter and more powerful motor, and a much better brushroll. I love mine and use it on a daily basis!

Chase, that Oreck bag came on a model with a headlight, the older square design housing like a 2600/2800, had the longer cord, switch in the handle, and you could order the base in red, white, or blue. I think they might have been in the outlet store which used to be on the Oreck website, or they may have been QVC exclusive, can't remember for sure. Oreck must have a surplus of the bags that they use on various models. I have seen the black/gray anniversary bags from years ago on new machines outfitted like yours with the step on switch, etc. Models with those bags were never offered to us in the stores, too bad, thought they were really sharp!

Thanks for the heads up vacman117. I got one too. Mine is all gray. First Oreck I've ever had or used. It seems OK. Seems odd not to have attachments to play with. I do like the long handle.

I saw these at Big Lots here a few weeks ago and told my buddy who has a vac shop. he went and bought them out, every single one. He gets $100-$125 for used Orecks, these come in a factory box and look brand new even though they're recon. He sells them for $150 and sells about 2 a week.

Saw them at Big Lots here too

Our Big Lots store here just reopened a couple of weeks ago in a much larger location. Went to check it out & noticed that they had a lot of these reconditioned models in stock. I wonder if these were some of the machines people returned on the 30 day gurantee that Oreck has. All the stock appeared to be reconditioned & were $99 each.

hi

Not sure if anyone will read a post on a thread this old, but I gotta say I'm liking my Oreck. I particularly like that the head is small enough to get between the legs of chairs and it lies flat enough to get under stuff.

I can't say I love how hard it is to push over my densely piled rug in my living room, and it is noisey, but I can put up with a lot since it's so light weight and compact.

I found a commerical green oreck xl in a dumpster. the handle were the dirt goes up into the bag was clogged. cleaned it up and has been a great vac for 10 plus years. being commerical it's has no headlight or a nicer look. but it gets the bigger motor. works really good on low pile carpet because the low profile wheels and higher rpm brush.
