This was one of those "There's an old sweeper in my basement, that needs to go before I move" Type of situation....Well here it is, it is a First edition 1952 LX (60). The only thing was, it was covered in a inch of gunk and betina....SO after a Bath and a full service, this is what i got...=)

Thanx Phill......

i can always rely on a real friend to reply to my posts........i dont see why 149 people can look and nobody comments...

I meant to txt u back when u sent me the pic. That is one beautiful machine you found! Chrome still shines like it left the factory, thanks for posting this and I couldn't agree more with the posting. People could reply once in a while.

In all fairness, there isn't much that can be said about this, apart from "nice find", "congratulations", "well done", "wow" etc etc...and 149 people all saying that would be a little bit pointless.

Maybe someone could provide some info on this model and spark a discussion about it?

That plastic floor thing,

is called a 'tufter.' and was indeed placed on the rug tool. The only drawback is that it prevents the elbow of the tool from moving. That box for the wrappers (bags) is in great condition as is the LX itself, though the cord plug is not original. However, you have a great find. By the way, were the other machines in the photo also part of this find. Have you tested it yet to see how far the wrapper will shoot out the chamber?

Enjoy that great Electrolux, and here's a picture of mine.

no,

That Photo was taken in my dining room, and those are just collection pieces that are displayed in that room. I have played with it, i did some dusting. I have to be honest though, since my house is 99% carpet (mostly thick 70's carpet at that) i will only use it for dusting. I HAVE to have a power nozzle.....no question about it....

And the cord is original, it is a smooth black rubber cord and is still hard wired into the reel. Just the plug has been replaced, which i am well aware of...

Hi 1926700

A lot of us who have an Electrolux LX in our collections also have an Electrolux filter bag filled with cotton balls, toilet paper, or some other non dirt substance to test the ejection process. The LX will toss the bag across the room if filled right. That is the special feature of this machine, and is a lot of fun to see live on our own carpets. So grab a spare bag, fill it (by feeding the above mentioned material) and watch it 'pop,' as Electrolux termed it. You can also test the ejection process by pressing the lever on the left underside of the machine. Open the front cover, keeping your hands free of the ejector if there is no bag in place, and be prepared for a loud bang. If the ejection system works right it will throw the bag across the room.

That cleaned up really nicely -- I think the LX is one of the prettiest Electroluxes ever made. The G is a close second, but there's something about the look of that LX that just makes me swoon; especially with the red and yellow nameplate. I hear you about the power nozzle, though. I remember a while back I think someone added a power nozzle outlet to an LX. Maybe it was an XXX.

I would rather grab....

A Eureka Empress II, or a Celebrity II. The only thin carpet, that is thin enough to use a straight suction rug nozzle on that I have, Is what is in the pic, that is my dinning room carpet.

Neat!

I like that these models THROW the bag out sometimes when it's full! LOL! It is also neat how it pivots to keep the hose horizontle when it is opened.

Sorry for the late reply (just saw this thread now) but that is one gorgeous Electrolux! I do love those old tanks, they just look so refined and elegant, yet being beasts in terms of power and suction.
