So, I had an ad on craigslist looking for vintage vacuums, and somebody replied saying they were running an estate sale and that there are AT LEAST 20 vintage vacuums there, with all of the paperwork, accessories, etc. He said all of them were in like new condition. The guy told me the previous owner of the building collected almost everything imaginable, and everything was packing to the ceiling.

I'm trying my hardest to find someone who can take me there, this is a great opportunity to get some cool vacs. My fingers are crossed!!!!! If I do get there, most likely I'll be coming home with every vacuum there.

YAY!

They're willing to hold the vacuums for me until I get there, she said they won't get rid of any until I get there and I can have first pick.

I can't wait to get there!

Dave, don't worry, I'll have my camera!

They're sending pictures of the vacuums tomorrow, so I'll post them as soon as I get them.

Well, so much for "I'll send pics of the vacuums on Monday". If there's nothing tomorrow I'll try calling and asking (politely) if they're still going to send pics.

My Aunt and I are going to the estate sale on Sunday!

I was talking to the guy on the phone and he said they had one that looked like a "golf bag on a cart". I'm guessing a Kenmore Ken-cart?

Well, tomorrows the big day! Stay tuned for pictures, and please take your heart medicine before looking at them. ;)

Well, let's just say the pics did the vacs too much justice. Not exactly "like new" as she stated. Most had cut off cords, missing or broken parts, rust, petrified cloth hoses, flaking paint, etc. But it was worth checking out, here are some of the vacs that were there: Electrolux XXX, Super J, older Lux floor buffer, lots of floor polishers/buffers (mostly Regina), 1959 Blue Hoover floor washer, 3 different DAMS, Kenmore Magicord, Some Magic-Aire canister (forgot the name), various Kirby's (two Omega's, and two older 500 series rebuilt mutts), Eureka Upright (1400 series, orange and white), Kenmore "Rocket or Bullet", an odd "Regency" canister missing the front end, and a few other's that I can't think of at the moment.

There was one that I really liked, it was a Kenmore upright, two-toned aqua colored, rounded hood, metal base, took disposable bags, and the bag was a greenish aqua colored cloth with a gold metal "K" on the top right corner. It also had a metal toggle switch. In some ways it looked a lot like a Hoover 28 .Does anybody know what model this is and does anybody have a pic? I have to ad this to the dream machine list. :) (Also had a greenish aqua colored hand grip).

Well, I didn't get any. Even that Kenmore was beyond repair. You live and you learn I guess.

What a shame ...

Personally, I would've only been interested in the DAM's - especially if there were any manual drive versions there. Otherwise, I'd have been disappointed too. Ah well ... better luck next time, I guess!
