A friend who is not a vacuum cleaner collector sent this video to me with the subject "Olive Oyl and Her Kirby!"

It does actually look kinda like a Scott & Fetzer machine, or maybe an early Royal straight-suction cleaner.

It's a fun video, whichever brand you figure out it is!

Memories of the past.

I always liked the Popeye cartoons, especially Olive Oyl. She had a high pitched nasal voice and was very skinny. The woman who had the Electrolux LX that I loved so much was also very skinny, so as a kid I connected the two, but seeing this cartoon confirms it. They both look alike!

Jeanette often told me that before she got her Electrolux, she had an upright vacuum cleaner called a Kaufman. That brand didn't exist, it was named for the department store in Pittsburg where she lived and spent her early married life. My guess is that the Kaufman was a Royal design with the store name tacked on. Thanks for sharing this Charles, seeing this was like going back to 1952.
