More ignorance...

"    - I am award winning vacuum restorer known for my restoration and polishing work."

<span style="font-family: 'Comic Sans MS'; font-size: 12pt; font-weight: 400;">Wouldn't that be "I am <span style="text-decoration: underline;">an</span> award winning vacuum restorer known for my restoration<span style="text-decoration: underline;">s</span> and polishing work"?</span>

Ah, I don't understand, please explain

Hello repairman, vacuumlad1650 and All
Forgive me, I don't understand what repairman is pointing out with the link and I don't understand vacuumlad1650's reply.
Now I am old so that could be why I don't understand or my tack is not as sharp as it once was.
Please let me know what you are talking about or the meaning of what you both are trying to get across.
Thank you for looking and hope to understand.
Pete

Ignorance????

What part of this is ignorant?!?!
With just a quick look at this I see---
A seller with knowledge and experience to describe and picture a Kirby he has obviously spent much time with.
Probably the BEST polishing I have ever seen on this and other Kirbys he has offered and sold.
A 100% positive rating with VERY positive comments.
Many rare items offered including many other vac related parts.
Many Kirbys and other items SOLD to people who choose to pay the price or place a bid for QUALITY items. And did I mention 100% positive rating and comments?!
A description inviting any questions any may have after reading the description and seeing the exellent pictures.
Where is the ignorance?!?!?!in this?

Good job rugsucker

Hello rugsucker, vacuumlad1650, repairman and All,
Rugsucker knows who this Kirby expert.
This Kirby expert is one of your members and has been since 2013.
I really don't get why a few of you say things without knowing what it makes you sound like.
Thank you for looking,
Pete

Pete

These are some beautiful machines you've got!

You must have worked long hours restoring them
to better than new.

I hope you sell every one for your asking price.

Frank

So right. I made the mistake of commenting on the high price of a NIB vacuum recently, only to find out that it sold at that high price. Definitely a case of value is in the eyes of the beholder. If someone wants "X", and pays the price, it doesn't make them a fool.

It just so happens that I did the same thing three days ago. I've had a Radio Shack Chronomatic 260 clock radio for...a LONG time. It's only value is having a dual alarm and an LED display bright enough to serve as a night light. One of my cats threw up on the radio - shorting something out to turn it on and not be able to turn off. Sad. I looked up dual alarm clock radio on Amazon and came up with 12,000 products. Ah. No. Not spending the next year fishing through what's best. Then I tried EBay. Another 100,000 or so offerings (yes, I'm embellishing a bit). I typed in Chronomatic 260 and found a couple very nice examples. I picked one out for $24.99 and bought it. I'm certain that's more than I paid for it brand new back in the day.

I liked my old radio. Could I afford a Bose? Yes. Would it do a better job of waking me up? No. I could have bought a state of the art wonder radio for what I paid for the analog one. Doesn't matter. I would have paid more if the $24.99 wasn't there.

Happy Friday!!!

I've done the same thing, Todd....with things that are nostalgic. I'll go a little over their original price, but try not to go crazy as I once did in vintage analog stereo gear. Learned some valuable lessons there; if you're not a tech, don't involve yourself with intricate mechanical devices you have to pay others to service...like tape decks.

Dr.Bose was a whore who sold out many decades ago...once the darling of analog stereo speakers with innovative designs, his real avatar was $$$.

What's the big idea?

Why is this guy under hot water?
He makes a living repairing and refurbishing Kirby Vacuums.
He is making himself useful and fixing up antique Kirbys, which by the way look absolutely wonderful!

He is just like me, but I do Fantoms.
I've looked on his eBay before and he is a great guy! I don't know why he is labeled and ignorant or what has you.

It's an antique Kirby and it looks to be brand new, that must have taken A LOT of time to accomplish!

It appears there was a mistake on my part. I had thought the initial post was made to alert people of the machine. As in "people seem to have ignored or overlooked this listing" rather than being derogatory. As for the diction, I had pointed that out, knowing Chicagomike is a member, so he could see it, and correct future listings.

Oh, it is not mine Frank

Hello Frank and All,
Frank, boy do I wish that was my Kirby but it is not, it is one of Michbaels's. His work is perfect and he has a 7 part YouTube video that shows a 509 Kirby being taken apart called:
"Part 1of7 How to Completely Take Apart Disassemble Kirby 509 1949 Vacuum Cleaner Complete Teardown"
It is interesting and informative and for anyone who has the guts to take their Kirby apart. Watch it so you can see what work is involved in a truly restored vintage Kirby.
When I worked for Mr. Condo in the mid 70's I never went that far into a Kirby as Michael does in the video. I would rebuild them, repair them and buff them but I would never could say I restored one like Michael does.
Thank you for looking,
Pete

Kirby k dead horse.

Kick kick.
I have watched Mike's YouTube videos ordered from him.
I within last month talked to him on the phone phone about restoring my kirby 510.
If you read the description of 562 it explains why it's a prototype. It has dual speed switch and motor only sanitronics are suppose to have. So having g a vacuum there is very few in existence and given that it is the nicest condition of the few prototype.
I would say he might be asking too little.
The. Man is probably best in country restoring vacuums. He has awards to back it up
Lastly he spend a while on phone helping a complete stranger he gained no money.
The vacuum is what he says it is he makes kirby company responsible jilted departmentnt to shame
Sorry for run on sentences but Mike is world class in every WY I'm a better person to know him.

Never Mind

I just wanted to show people that even though this is a wonderfully restored machine, it was just mislabeled as a prototype even though it isn't. The last machine to have a single speed motor was the Kirby Sanitronic VII (1963-1964) which came out right after the 562. Both models WERE single speed from the factory.

Kudos to Mike, then

Yes, the owner of this fine fleet deserves a
great deal of Credit (both tribute and financial)

Great work!!

Hello

My last post was bad.
Mike knows kirbys. THE MOTOR
did you catch that THE MOTOR has 2 speeds. It's a 562 Motor with 2 speeds.
2 speed motors were in sanatronics.
Now a 562 motor with 2 speeds sounds to me like a 562 sanitronic prototype.
I really hope you find the irony that you just need to be quiet. Please stop posting on this thread. If you don't understand you never will.
Thanks exit stage right.

I <span style="text-decoration: underline;">believe</span> this to be an early prototype for the Dual Sanitronic for a number of reasons, <span style="text-decoration: underline;">some of which are (thus there are other reasons too)</span>:
1. It has a Dual Speed switch/safety switch ((a 562 fan cover does not fit a dual speed switch, this vacuum has a dual speed switch = or in different wording, the fan cover on this vacuum has a 562 part number cast into it (it is not a Sanitronic part number), a dual speed switch does not fit a standard 562 fan cover however this vacuum has a dual speed switch on it)).
2. The coil/stator = the motor in the vacuum is dual speed, a standard 562 model would have an entirely different stator/coil.  A dual speed motor has more wiring than a 562 motor.
3. The motor housing has a 562 part number, a standard 562 motor housing does not accept dual speed motor - the design of a 562 motor housing and a dual speed motor housing are entirely different.  The motor housing the vacuum was modified to accept a dual speed motor.

I fully stated in the listing,  " I believe this to be an early prototype for the Dual Sanitronic" if you do not think it is that is A-OK with me but then tell me why it is not.

Thank you to everyone who replied positively in my behalf or had something positive to say about me. :)  Lastly, I am exiting stage right.....

chicagomike
