That is fantastic !

Thanks very much for doing this I really appreciate it, it's exactly what I was looking for. Seeing them in order & the different variations really helps me understand what's out there & what replaced what. That way i've an idea of the specific models & type of Numatic that are out there to collect.

It's particularly great to see pics of a David as they are my own particular Holy grail of vacuums.

Cheers again
Dave

There were loads of variations not featured in the brochures though, for example the Wendy which was a green NV250 with a smiley face and don't forget the Basils etc lol

Well I certainly learnt a lot there tonight. The Basil did not come to life until around 1996 which would be why it is not in your leaflets this far. The original James was a metal tank Henry, but I am not sure if it was the type with or without cordwinder, or indeed both as time progressed. At least one Wendy was a metal tanked cleaner and was exclusive to the Machine Mart chain of stores. There can't be that many around. Also there have been cleaners labelled Bernie, and Bertie, and James of course saw a reappearance in recent years. One such example appeared in a Littlewoods catalogue and was purple with purple painted tubes, just like the Basil cleaners had been painted in red, green, blue, or yellow. I don't know if this model was exclusive only to Littlewoods or not.

I have never in my life seen of a William or David. One would guess that the plastic tubes were not seen as a selling point. Do you know if it was a cheaper cleaner than Henry, and if so by how much? It can't have been much cheaper I assume. I assume also that Henry was the more popular choice and that Numatic dropped the David as a result. I can't see it being that cost-effective to have had the Henry and David on sale together.

george

i remember the pub i worked in around 1988 getting one of these the eyes and mouth were seperate stickers in the box we put the eyes on in the wrong position making it look crosseyed and the mouth was upsidedown making it look like a frown that machine worked hard being used every day to clean quite a large pub the cleaners not being very fussy would suck up all the droppings in the dining room there would be chips peas bones it would gobble anything i went in the pub about 8 years later and there it was leaning up against the wall outside the gents i knew it was the same one because of the crosseyes and the frown

This was my original James that I had a few years back, really regret selling this one. I have got the original brochure for James dated 1985. It was available both with and without the cord rewind and in grey and black and beige and brown. The non rewind model was the JVC225 and the rewind model was the JVR225.

In regards to William and David, they were priced slightly lower than the equivalent Henry and Charles, but had a much more basic 35mm toolkit that the original George also had. give me a sec and i'll take a few pics of the other brochures I have

some face kits, these used to be supplied with new Numatics for the owner to apply, hence so many old Henrys with wonky faces and interesting expressions lol

While we're on the subject...

Heres a few pics I took of the cleaning cupboard at work in about 2009. Just imagine, by the the time this pic was taken most of these Numatics must have been around 20 years old and still in everyday use cleaning a 6 floor office building. Hows that for reliability
