First of all I thought I would tell you all that I recently bought the new 580w Henry and found that the motor power was strong but not as strong as the older 1200w model. What I found more bizarre, was that it sounded just like the older 1200w model in the hi setting, but quieter if that makes sense, but it didn't sound like the John or lewis which also have a 580w motor. Anybody know why? Not that it is a problem but it just puzzeled me, as the wattage was the same and they were supposed to be using the same motor. I did buy it on Black Friday, not when they first came out in September.

Now going back to what this post is about, I have also noticed that Numatic have changed the New Henry line already! Henry's now carry the model number HVR200-12 and they have a two speed motor, unfortunate the they went bavk to it!! At least it is not the Autosave system as it has the original type two speed, green hi/lo switch and the red on off button, they also uped the wattage from 580w to 620w.

No idea why they have done this.

Alex.

Hello

That really is very surprising. Do you have any further info' or pictures of the new machines?
I wonder what the reason was behind it? I have a Numatic John & it's plenty powerful enough (no real difference I can tell between it & my 1200w Autosave) so I can't see that being a factor.
Most puzzling !
Merry Christmas to all.

Evening, I had the hetty autosave 1200w. Swapped it for a new HET200-A2 and I can't really tell the difference compared to the 1200w. Has anyone tried a standard floor head on the 580w model instead of the supplied wessel werk one?

I tried the standard Autosave floor tool on my Numatic John. I didn't notice that much difference, I don't think it's quite as effective (& I certainly prefer the Wessel one) but it didn't seem too bad at all.

I've just looked at the instruction manual on the numatic site, strange that they have ditched the 580w model in just 4 months.

They have gone back to the original hi/lo switch, hey, why not put the 1200w motor back in and remove the horrid "eco" flower and be done with it!

The first ever Henry I owned was my 2008 Henry HVR200-22, with (at the time) newly designed switch bank with no flower, regular hi/lo switch and transfer face! and not to mention, no silly parking bracket! I loved that machine, unfortunately I sold it, I deeply regret that.

Well...

I kind of like it, looks like the 2008 Henry :)
I like the Hi lo setting TBH, wanted one of the new 580W ones but was out off that they had less suction, so wanted an Eco one. And no parking bracket? Damn! Why?

I agree, and the plastic bit sticking out of the back of the neck of the floor tool doesn't look very appealing to me either, and neither does the 3D face TBH in my opinion.

I hate the flower, it's never looked right IMO.

I still don't see any difference in performance between my 580w John & my 1200w Autosave Henry (if anything the 580w seems better!) So the change puzzles me (unless it's a reliability issue - he says worriedly).

I would say though that neither seem as powerful as the early Henry I have, he's a beast !

If Numatic are selling Henry vacuums in other EU countries that have a PN added, the increase of the wattage from 580 watts to 620 watts might be reflective to sit with a 180 watt PN head. After all, if the vacuum has anything less than 700 watts, it could be a figure that turns off the consumer who has been told of the new EU law with lowering watts.

Also, given that the 580 watt motor would see service in the bigger dust bag capacity Numatics, air flow might be lower - increasing the motor might put it more into level of existing acceptable figures.

I dont think there's a model that can be personally owned to tell much of a difference, Parwaz - unlike Dyson, Numatic's first course of importance with their products isn't suction but overall reliability, performance and build quality.

I have noticed a difference of suction though with the change over from their paper dust bags to their synthetic HEPA Flo bags, but it is minimal based on the fact that both bags have strong rubber membranes on the dust channel. The HEPA Flo bags tend to last a lot longer before requiring to be changed, in my experience.

Saying that I haven't noticed much of a difference between the 1200 watt models and the 580 watt models - I still have to loosen the air valve at the top for a better, lighter gliding feel since the suction only head grips carpets making it difficult to move unless you have strong muscles. A lot of cleaners tend to loosen the air valves at the top of the handle for easier use on fixed power models. The newer Wessel Werk floor heads are better however.
