I'm looking to buy a new "general purpose" canister for the house. The two that pique my interest are the Numatic Henry, or the Oreck Compacto9. The prices are quite similar here in the USA. There are some features on the Henry I like, and vice versa on the Compacto9. My major concern with the Oreck is since TTI of China won the highest bid for ownership during the Oreck bankruptcy auction in 2013, I'm fearful that Oreck, even the commercial versions such as the Compacto9, will go the way of Royal, DirtDevil, Hoover, etc.

Has anyone had any experience with either the Numatic Henry, or derivatives, or the Oreck Compacto9? I'd like to hear some real feedback before I plunk down my 300USD plus. We have a Miele S6-series Quartz canister for surface housecleaning tasks (love it!), and are looking at one of the above for general use.

Thanks.

Thanks for the info...

I thought that had to be the case, as I've seen Bissell version online. Are they manufactured "off shore" or here in the USA? I've heard they're manufactured in the USA. The overall filtering (bag, motor, and exhaust) appears superior in the Compacto canisters, but the Numatic products filtering appear sufficient for our use.

By some miracle...

I found the link (see below) to the company, Clean Source Technologies (CST) of The Netherlands.
I remembered Vacuumland user "Venson" posted it once.
So thank you Venson, and where did you go anyway?
You may have to translate the page. My Chrome browser asked me to do so anyway.
They sell/ sold(?) here in America as FAST USA vacuums a couple of years ago...but i don't see them here on the web now.
I have to imagine the Numatic is a better product but will be more costly. I found this NVH380 on the Nacecare.com website.

I would go for the Henry

I have had a Henry for years and never had a bit of trouble with it. When I worked for oreck I saw a lot of compacto canisters come back with problems. Their where a lot of issues with filters and thermal switches. I also found the compact was a little difficult to maneuver do to the size and weight. Don't get wrong I think overall it's a very nice machine but I find the Henry is much better suited for home use. I also love the cord winder on the Henry. I despise having to manually wrap a cord.
