NOS Vac

Hi, Im new to this AWESOME site. I was just wondering if anyone had experience with the Amway Cleartrak. I have had TONS of bagless vacuums over the years and I was not very happy with any of them. A couple of months ago I bought a NIB Amway cleartrak and so far Its the best bagless vacuum Ive ever had! Anyone know how durable they are? Seems to me they are built very well.

That would appear to be a rare bird. I looked up the picture for it and it looks like an old Fantom but with a dual cyclone. I would hold that one highly prized.

Actuwally the amway clear track is still being made, its the one with a height adjuster on the front. The one in the ad above is an amway CMS 1000 which is the clear track's predessesor,it is somewhat rare though. I have a CMS 1000 and love it aswell. It came out in 1988 and was the first bagless upright to be sold in north america. Anyways, to answer your question, they are very durable vacuums and well made, with proper maintinence they should last a long time. By the way there is a bit of a story behind the CMS so I am hoping someone who knows more then me will post the story on this thread, if not I will

Looking at the pictures of the CMS 1000 and then looking at mine, the Cleartrak I noticed something awile back. There dual Cyclones are very different! In fact havent I seen that CMS 1000 Cyclone on another vacuum before? Hummmmm,

the amway vacuum uses dyson technology , they tried to steal it off him in the 80's he sued he won and now they pay him every time they sell one. That's the short story , if you read his book you will get the long and interesting version

Thank you and Yes we will have to get together again, it was fun! The Amway is still doing an amazing job on my carpet, wow that thing picks up alot! So the only too vacuums I use are the Blue E2 Rainbow and the Cleartrak. Funny how I hated bagless and now thats all I use!

I ran across one of these last week. It was used but a really decent price. Thought about buying it but passed. Just don't have room. I'm not a collector, more of a user, so I couldn't justify the expense or space for a vac that I probably won't use that much.

Just curious, though. Would you guys say this vac performs as well as some of the newer bagless vacs on the market? Or is the value of having one based more on it's history, looks, and design? Basically, did I miss out if I'm judging by overall performance compared to what is currently available (I currently have a Sanitaire commercial bagless upright and a Dyson DC23 turbinehead canister for bagless and Sanitaires, Windsor Versamatics, Riccars, Carpet Pro, Royal, Kirby, Sebo, and others for bagged vacs)? Is this more of a collector's vacuum than a daily driver?

A couple of months ago I would have snapped it up. I think I'm at a point where my space constraints are killing my vacuum acquisition disorder (VAD) and I cannot stand to buy anything else unless the price is irresistible and the machine is truly a top tier performer.

Oh, I forgot to say, nice find on your vac, Mike. NOS is great! Did you pay a lot for it?

Reminds me of the Buck Rogers TV series vision of what the future will be like. The looks are retro 80's cool!

Thank you, there are still plenty of them on certain web sites brand new. I paid a hefty amount but this vacuum brought back so many memories for me that I had to have it. When I say hefty amount I mean no where near its original price of between 700 to 1000 dollars. I even went online and bought a bunch of parts that the machine might need as it ages. Such as belts, brush roll, filters, even new rear wheels just in case! LOL! I am amazed at how available parts still are.

Amway upright

I think I have 1 or 2 as seen in ad above in place of which we do not speak.I f we did speak of it it would be called a warehouse.As it is currently somewhat of a memorial to the Collyer brothers we try to not speak of it.I would be glad for these to find a new home for reasonable price and shipping.Would take some time to find,check and possibly clean/service.These are interesting as a first use ,or misuse,of Dyson desighn.I have heard people speak well of their cleaning power.My email is currently not mailing but I can be found if interested.
