Hello Hoover collectors,

I have come across a lot of NOS Hoover brush strips set in lead for the Pre Convertible upright models. I will sell them for a firm price of $20.00 a set (including one each long and short strip) plus $3.00 handling and shipping. The following strips are available and all have natural bristles except noted concerning the canoe ones:

Short one screw sets for the Hoover 115 and Lark and possibly other models.

Straight sets including one long and one short strip with no screw holes.

Straight sets including one long and one short strip with one screw hole.

Curved sets including one long and one short strip with no screw holes.

Canoe sets including one long and one short strip with two screw holes in them, some of which have natural bristle and some with black nylon bristles.

If anyone is interested you can contact me at [email protected] and we can make the arrangements. These strips will be shipped in bubble envelopes for safe shipping.

Thanks, Jim

Apology !!

I think I may have posted this thread in the wrong forum. If so I am very sorry. I am new to this but that is no excuse for what I did. Hopefully it is not posted in the wrong place. Jim

Jim,

For a first timer you did well. Alan is also correct, it would have been all right to post it on the Off Topic thread as well.

Thanks for sharing this wonderful find with our group. Finding old parts is rare and helps many here make their dream machines whole.

Morgan

Thanks Morgan :-)

I was soooooooooo surprised when my friend who owns a vac shop called me about finding these in the back of his storage room. I was more surprised that he had 5 styles. These are about as rare as hens teeth unless you happen on to them. Happy Hoovering all :-)

Jim, does your friend have any other "gems" hidden away in the back of his storage room? I need the original bag for my Kenmore Imperial. Perhaps any cloth bags for the early Kirbys?

I just left the shop

and was looking through the Hoover things but heavens only knows what he has in Kenmore and Kirby things. I will be going back and will find out. He is the 2nd generation in this shop and his son is the 3rd so who knows what is in those two rooms. I will find out and let you know for certain. I got bad news there today about my Hoover 25 but hope to remedy that. Jim

I think and have been told

that the straight and curved brush strips with no holes for screws may fit the older "coffee can" Hoovers. I am not sure of this but I feel someone else in the club may know. I am pretty sure Jeff told me that his 700 had the straight ones with no screw holes in and bought a pair to replace them. I can let you know by asking the next time I talk with him. Or, he may reply to this. Jim

Yes, my 700 does use that style of brush strip, but it is a 700 Special. I'm not sure if the original 700 used the same agitator or if it was an updated version installed at the time of factory rebuild.
