Recently found this vac, it’s my first time using a dial a matic and it just so happens to be brand new. It’s a lot better than I thought and very smooth running machine. With a simplicity HEPA bag it performs great. The amount of NOS Hoover’s I have acquired this year is crazy.

In picture 5 I noticed fine dust around the dirt tube area specifically the blue area off to the side, if this is common is there a easy fix? It’s not the bag leaking so don’t bother telling me that.

Thanks for the picture of the box!

Colby,
Thank you so much for posting the picture of the box which clearly indicates that
the Dail-A-Matic could come with the tools.
My parents bought their Dial-A-Matic in Jan 1972 and I remembered it coming WITH the tools in the same box. I have the original paperwork from the local Hoover dealer and is shows ONE price for the clearer and the tools. I do remember the box after viewing your picture.

I have had the SAME problem with my fill tube inside the bag compartment. It DID NOT do this until just this last year. I have tired to reseal mine.

I had never used the machine until after my parents had passed away. I was shocked at how good the machine cleans and the power of the suction for the tools.
Using the Simplicity Hepa bags made a huge difference.

Here are some shots of my Hoover.

Thanks so much for posting the picture of the box!

It's not coming from the bag!

You are correct. Mine never had any dirt on the red filter till that tube starting leaking. I believe the seal (glue) must have aged and with the powerful air flow coming into the fill tube was trapped on the red filter. Of course this can not happen as the dirt will go right into the fans.

I did notice their is a slight difference in the roller and we have different tools storage.
The only problem I have is sometimes the attachment hose will come off the connection for no reason.

I’m glad you appreciated the photos, I figured it was the glue around the tube that had broken down. I think I’ll use a Miele pre motor filter just to be safe. I’m still shocked how good it is, I feel like all I’ve heard about this model how terrible it was.

What a beautiful find

Though I know it is wrong to covet thy neighbor's vacuum. I have to admit I would lust over this one. Enjoy your new machine.

I absolutely LOVE the sea blue color of the U6039, and the decoration on the front exhaust cover. I didn't think a NIB Dial-A-Matic even still existed. You are lucky indeed! On as side note, what difference (if any) was there between the U6039 and the U6039-030? It almost looks as though they shoehorned a convertible brushroll core into the DAM with the center cutout for the belt.

Pre Motor filter

Colby,
I have tried a couple different pre-motor filters on the RED filter at the bottom of the compartment. They restricted the powerful air flow and suction in a negative way and I thought it would cause the motor to overhead or at least make it run hot.
That RED wire filter was designed to be open to move a LOT of air.
I could tell a difference not only in the tools suction but the tone of the motor.
My problem was without question the seal of the inlet tube, not the Hoover bag.
A Hoover expert may have a good idea of what type filter material to use but the 2 I tired did not work.
