NOOOOOOOOOOO! NOT MY SANITRONIC VII! :-(

My Sanitronic VII has recently developed terrible leaning issue where the metal on the motor casing has stripped causing the handle to lean foreward badly. Any suggetions on how to fix this without replacing the whole motor casing?

I have that problem with one of my 505s. What I do when the machine is on display is slide a dime inbetween the bottom lip of the handle spring and the housing. That's just thick enought to hold the handle upright. If you want something more permanent, you can try having a small strip of metal welded to that same lip area.

I'd try a metal adhesive and fill the area, then sand it down to match the original area. It should be fairly simple and fairly durable, and I think anyone can do it.

How to fix the Kirby handle....

Prior to sending my Dual 50 out for the re-build through Kirby, my handle also leaned forward badly. Kirby, was pretty sly and the way they fixed it was to either hammer or "drill in" to small spiral nails (maybe these are called, "self tapping"?) while leaving approximately 1/8" or less out so that the metal "flange" part of the handle would rest along the two newly formed "rails". I will try to take a picture of it. They did not replace the fan housing! Bastards!

Joe, here are the pictures.....IMHO...a real cheap-ass job!
Not at all what I would have expected from Kirby. I did expect them to use another old carcass rather than repair the old one. They also did have the nerve to charge me $38 for a new fan housing though because the old one had a crack on the outside though it never pierced itself all the way thru to the inside of the fan housing.

I know you can't see really really up close, but the screws/nails are spiraled which is what perhaps makes them easy to screw into the metal and what also prevents them from backing out.

Don't know why the machine looks hazy but it's not! It's so highly polished and shiny and new when you see it in person!
