Non genuine vacuum bags

for Miele. Several years ago I inquired about the utility and quality of bojack dust bags. The opinion then was unanimous; do NOT to use them as they may not fit, burst or leak.

Well, due to an on-going renovation, the Miele G/N bag is a bit pricy for the limited amount of use they provide. Dealing with drywall & other construction dust etc. so I'm changing them often. @ 5.00 per bag, I'm curious if there is a less costly alternative that is decent? By the way, our Shop-Vac is serving us well with the worst stuff.

The genuine Miele Air Clean bags work well. The suction is strong for the most part, but drops off faster than usual due to the nature of the dust. The dust compartment of the cleaner stays clean.....so they do what they say as far as filtration is concerned.

It seems there are several "off" brands of Miele bags available. I.E. Filtrete, Arm & Hammer, DVC and others. Some seem to have good user feedback, from websites like Amazon etc. Of couse within a brand there are polarized opinions. Makes you wonder, if the average user are installing the bags correctly or the quality varies etc. I've included a link for a brand that seems promising.

Anyway, I just thought I would "poll" the experts for opinions.

The Miele dealer here in town suggests the 3M "Filtrete" type bag as an alternative to the orig Miele bags-HOWEVER-if the Miele machine is NEW-the warratee is invalid if the machine is used to pick up remodeling debris.Try to get an old Filter Queen,or Compact-TriStar to deal with the debris.Mike at the vacuum place here says the 3M replacement bags are popular with those that do use the Miele for commercial home cleaning jobs-as a cleaning contractor.And of course check with your Miele dealer to see what they would suggest as alternatives to the factory Miele bags.

I've used the Arm and Hammer Miele bags for years now with no dust leakage. They are available at Wal-Mart for substantially less than genuine Miele bags. No problems with them at all. Spotless bag compartment too.

Even thought I use Non-Genuine Bags you can tell the difference between Hoover Genuine Purepower Bags & the ones you can buy from Wilko. The Genuine ones have a thicker outer layer & they have a white layer inside.
