I am posting as a contrast to something that was posted on Automaticwasher.org...there was a UK dyson that had a wild color scheme. I wanted to point out that there are a lot of vacuum companies that had some wild colors. I got jumped from the beginning for saying something unflattering about dyson. So I will add the pictures from that thread here. What are some other vintage vacuum companies that had some wild color schemes? I unfortunately only have Hoover to go by so I will post some of my examples here in the safety of Vacuumland. I would like to know what wild machines are in the hands of other collectors. Thanks!

Here is a 1971 Convertible 1076. Check out the wild bag!

Here is a nice Bittersweet (orange) U4001 from my good friend Jeff Parker. I like this bright orange color. It runs great and wow does it clean carpet. Like I have said here before, it is difficult to beat the cleaning power of a Hoover Convertible.

How about some green???

Lastly...here is a DAM from 1977...this one was a gift from my dad to my mom at Christmas 1977. It is very sturdy as it has withstood the cleaning fury that is my mom. Again a wild color scheme that will still outclean many modern machines even the d.... you know what machine I mean! (I dare not say or write its name!) This U5017 still purrs like a kitten and uses only a little electric.

There have been many

dramatically colored and styled machines over the years. Just think of all the beautiful turquoise vacuums in the 50s and 60s. Turquoise back in those days was a very new, bold and daring color in appliances. And I'd say of all of them, the very futuristic-looking G.E. Roll Easy was the most fabulously over-the-top of them all.

Wow, that U4001 is one I've never seen before, with the orange base and beige hood, it's almost kind of a reverse from what they typically would do!

A couple of our neighbors had 1076s and I thought they were really neat. I have the 728, with the same bag of a different hue and the traditional style convertible hood in that nifty salmon-like color. One of my favorites.

you have to love the convertible

it was and is still a grate vacuum I gess that is why thare are still so many around and still in use and they are fare from the throw away vacuums of today

Tom,
Thanks for the post of the 4001. I have never seen any Hoover with a color combination of darker base and lighter hood. I would have thought it was a second hand machine that had been repainted. How neat!

Its like Bovril- ya love it or hate it....The Hoover Convert

Hey Scott

Ya obviously didnt notice the 1031 tools, manual etc ;).

Thats the 707 Jeff P VERY kindly sent me a while back- we didnt have anything with that degree of 70s gaudiness over here lol!.

The tools and manual came from Ebay a few weeks ago- it was great to complete the ensemble :).

Seamus...

It is so nice to have the complete set...tools and book with each machine. I can't believe that the UK did not get the 707 as it was around here forever and a day. There are still plenty of these to be had. You are so right...love it or hate it. No matter what, though, the 707 does work well. Knowing that it came from Jeff Parker makes it an even better find!

Right Seamus, and if I'd been *really* observant, I would have noticed that your cleaner doesn't have the UK style connector. Many of your Hoovers there were a bit more button down in color and design than those we had here.
