I amended my original comment by adding in "exact Copies" I never said they were Fakir though, I just said they were making these uprights under different names in many colours. It would not surprise me if they were making them for Fakir as the company in question makes very high end products for allot of German and UK company's.

I have never been to Fakir's manufacturing plant in Germany, Perhaps you have But I have with my own eyes seen these and the canister versions rolling down production lines in China.

I own a Nilco version of this unit that has served me well, My delphin has this same powernozzle too.

Perhaps you should think before you insult. You would be the only one who is delusional if you think manufacturers don't manufacture in china and say claim its built in Germany.

Thank you Jeff

I am always amazed to see what comes out of China. I have just seen carbon copies of the sanitaire vacuums, IE down to the colour and they are well made.

I have also got a commercial upright vacuum sample that will give sebo a run for its money ( no offence sebofan) as far as build quality goes. Not the same shape at all though but I was very impressed.

China is like a huge shopping market if you buy appliances for resale. They are moving rapidly into the commercial/ industrial market now

Well Aware of the tricks

I am well aware of the tricks manufactures use including Riccar who use mainly foreign parts and assemble the final products in the United States and charge hundreds of dollar for what in many cases is a Panasonic which can be purchased for less.
I am also aware that the Nilfisk's is selling uprights that look very similar and are made in China. This is what Clarke is selling now and I would not consider because the quality control in China is poor. I purchased a Hoover copy of the Sebo G1 made in China and was not impressed with the quality of the molds, not nearly as good as SEBO IMHO. I only purchased as a collector of interest.
I just do not want people who might want a good deal on a Fakir which seems to be nicer than most of the garbage coming from China to be mislead.

The NILCO photos sebofan posted look very nice, to bad this version is not available to the US market.

Vacuums made in China

Of course some products must be made in China, my iPad and iPhone are my favorite. When is come to appliances, for the Mose part what I have seen has been cheaply made. I am always open minded to judging each product on its own merits.

This thread has been getting marked as offensive all evening

Vegas I would really appreciate if you would not be unnecessarily rude here. Telling someone they "must be on drugs" because of a difference of opinion is not cool and completely uncalled for. That is something you would see on a comments section of large city newspaper website, but this is Vacuumland and we are suppose to be a family joined via a common interest.

Vacuumland is a great place and the harmony here has generally been wonderful and I will do what ever it takes to keep it that way. So please, if you can't say it in a nice/polite way then don't say it at all. In the end you will get a lot more respect and people will take your opinions more seriously.

Family site?

I tried to edit the comment and could not. People should stop making up things and posting as if they are an expert when their information is not correct. I do apologies for the comment.

Difference of opinion?

Not justifying my comment although it was not a difference of opinion, it was a flat out falsehood.

No Vegas sucks it was not false hood. I never said they were made in China, Just that the exact same machines are. Maybe Fakir has a Factory in Germany, May bee they don't. Unless you have seen it you will never know. That said I have seen the very same machines In the same color, (But did not see a name on them) rolling off the production line in china.

One other point, The Nilfisk/alto/wap uprights are identical to the Nilco in build quality and parts. The only difference is the color. I own both

Will not wate my time

Will not waste my time arguing, Please refrain from posting negative comments on my post. To drum up maybe this and what ifs and attacking a companies reputation based upon maybes with no proof adds nothing to this forum.

Vegassucks - since you're recommending that people buy the Fakir upright, can you tell us about your experience with it, and the features you like best in using it? In your experience, what floor coverings does it work well on? Have you tried it on wood floors as well as carpeting? Are you able to turn the brush roll off when cleaning bare floors? Does it use a flat belt or a cogged belt?

Given that it's a relatively obscure brand, is there a service network and/or readily available bags/belts available? Where do you purchase your supplies from for your Fakir upright? I noticed that you also recommend the canister. Do you own both?

Ralph 123

Please read and tell me where I recommend any purchase. Looks like a great deal on a German vacuum means exactly that. I never stated I own one, purchased one now or any statement of the kind.

Problem with this forum is people will attack anything others post without even reading. To some who live far from a Miele dealer, Miele may not be a good choice. Some people are happy purchasing a Walmart vacuum where bags are easy to find, fine with me.

This forum should be about sharing experiences, ideas and opinions without assumptions being made and have without people making liable statement about companies without any proof just because they do not like a post, brand or the member who wrote the post.

Now Ralph, please show me where I stated I recommend this vacuum other than stating it appeared to be a great deal. And asking others who owned one their opinions.

A good question is what about bags? They are all over the Internet including ebay for a very reasonable price. Sold under the Clarke Combivac name. Now if someone dose not purchase from the Internet or have access, this is not your vacuum. These are real discussin, not stating this might be made in China because I saw what looked like this. What proof does this member have? To post such statements is rediculus at best.

I did check out the Clarke name label of this vacuum this weekend. The vacuum is very powerful with a chevron brush, Hepa filter and three height settings. I would put it on par with a sebo G1 and for $300, brand new seems like a good deal. It actually one ups the Sebo by using a two motor system. You cannot turn off the motor unless you unplug the powerhead. By the looks of it it is more of a commercial look, some might love it, I like the looks of the ones Sebofan posted above.

Now attack some more because that's the way so many on this forum like to act. Then flag my post because it does not go lock step with your opinion.

Vegus sucks

You are the only one with assumptions.

I never said it was a bad vacuum nor did I attack it. In fact you were the one who attacked. Just that I saw models like it been made in China.

You are the one who assumed I ment that it was a bad thing it was made in China. Its not. If it cleans well who cares if its made in Germany or China.

I will continue to post were I feel like. Its a free forum and if I have input I will post something.

I love dyson vacuums and accept that others dont but hate those who continue to bash the brand so I never would do that. I feel that if someone has taken time to post about a vacuum add something informative but dont bash.

I never bashed your Fakir. As I said I own the original version and a newer version and they work well, are light and easy to use.

Dont assume that because I said versions of this vacuum are been made in china that I was bashing your vacuum.

Now back to the vacuum

I have sent an email to the Chinese manufacturer requesting a sample. I will post pics on here when I get it.

This machine was also badged as an Electrolux Panther upright as Electrolux SA distributed the Nilco brand at some stage.

***sigh***

Ok first Vegas attacks someone by telling them they must be on drugs, next he calls someone a cheapskate and now he insults the majoritoy of the members here with another derogatory comment at the end of his last post above.

After repeated warnings (and I've been more than fair and patient) he is now banned from posting here. I've refunded his donation in full and he is no longer welcome here.

It's irrelevant at this point who is right and who is wrong, there is a right way and wrong way of interacting, he clearly doesn't get that and is not fit to be posting here.

If anyone notices any other issue, please let me know.

Thanks all and pardon the interruption in the thread.

Robert

Let me be the first to thank you for removing Vegas from Vacuumland. I personally have been reading this since yesterday afternoon & was not impressed with his conduct here! Why is it that some people seem they can join just to start arguments & drama?! Perhaps it's time to start being more selective about who gets to join & post here....

I would also like to "thank you" for removing Vegas from the forum.  His posts and comments were consistently negative, increasingly contentious, and downright RUDE.  Everyone here has opinions on one subject or another, and should have the ability to voice those opinions without the fear of malice or reprisal.  Also, the majority of our members do conduct themselves respectfully.  There are instances of spats, but those are few and far between.  Overall, it's a great group of people!!!

A great evening to all,
