I have been watching this for the last couple of weeks on eBay and when I went to bid last week, I was instantly outbid on an automatic bid. I am not sure if the buyer ever paid because the machine was relisted. I have a real soft spot for the Swedish/British Electrolux machines and considering that this machine is a Lux made product I had to have it. So on Friday I won the bid and am now the Proud owner of a NOS Viking 720 Vacuum cleaner. The box was a little musty as it was stored in a humid environment.

So beautiful! I love how the parent company married the Electrolux canister to a Eureka Roto-Matic power nozzle with a Vibra-Groomer helix brush roll.

In Canada, Electrolux labeled these cleaners as "Dometic" because Eureka was already making cleaners for our Eaton's department stores under Eaton's store brand Viking.

Thank you! there was a second one on eBay that was the canister only, nothing else and I grabbed it to keep it new as this one I think I am going to use. there is a hairline crack at the base of the bag door which doesn't bother me as it isn't noticeable and I believe it was due to storage conditions and age.

I sold those when they were new. I'll tell you the story of how they came to America and why they disappeared almost 'over night'. I also have a large sales poster for that machine. I'll tell you the story and give you the poster next time I see ya.

I kept all the paper work from the time. Electrolux Sweden and Electrolux USA were completely separate companies. The importer of the Lux (the one you have now) allowed them to be sold by anyone - even door to door sales teams. Well, you know what happened with that. Customers would call their local Electrolux office for bags, and the salesman who delivered them would discover the customer had a Viking but was told it was an "Electrolux" because it was made by Electrolux Sweden. There were even fist fights. You'll get a huge kick out of reading all about it. The V.D.T.A. was very useful in the day - printing the press release from one company and the next month was a retort to the first company. It was hilarious in hind sight.

I seen that auction for the canister and was 20 seconds away from placing a bid but decides to pass on it since it was just a display model with nothing with it. I wondered who got it and if it would show up here, I guess now I know. lol

I like the colors of it and yeah, definitely do not see these at all - if ever. Aside from ibaisaic, nobody else has videos of one on YouTube.

there were 2 the one that was complete and the other with nothing. what's funny is that the seller used the same description for both but the titles were different. I did grab the second one after I got this one for a couple of reasons when I received this machine I noticed that there was a hairline crack at the very bottom of the bag door and the other reason was to keep it new. The machine is a pretty powerful machine producing 80" of water lift, and it has a lot of airflow. the motor is so quiet that when running the machine all you hear is the air being passed through it. When using the power nozzle that's all you hear. It is really a great cleaner and it is a shame that the Swedish Electrolux design didn't last long here.
The same seller was selling some Viking 705 upright cleaners and I did buy one, I do believe that he had 4. They were British Electrolux design and complete with attachments.
I will post a youtube video of it within the next week.
