NIB Kirby Traditions?

VacuumLand – Vintage & Modern Vacuum Enthusiasts

Help Support VacuumLand:

About three weeks ago or so, I had a Calgary Kijiji want ad for a NIB Kirby Tradition. Someone in Vernon, BC, responded saying he had one. So I offered $200 for it (plus shipping), paid him by Interac e-transfer from my bank, and he received it. He shipped it a few days later (or so he claimed). It has been over 2 weeks now since I last heard from him, and never received it (as of today). I have sent another email today to him expressing my concern about the lack of response and the package's no-show.

What should I do?

BTW: In case this deal does not go through (ie, I never receive it), I am still interested in one of airwaylady's Traditions (in which I already expressed an interest).

Hi stricklybojack!

I have reported it to my bank, and I am thinking of going to my local police to report it.

In his response to my Calgary Kijiji ad, he sent me a photo of his "BNIB Kirby", and said he was in Vernon, BC, so I trusted him.

Now I'm not so sure to trust him, after his failure to respond after two weeks and the package not appearing.

Greed--one of the Seven Deadly Sins

The man who keeps raising the price of his NIB Traditions is an example of greed (one of the seven deadly sins, which the Catholic church also calls avarice (Latin: avaritia)).

Another example of greed is the guy who scammed me out of $240 here in Canada by claiming he had one (and even sent me a photo of it); he took the money but I never received the promised item.

I hope I can find an honest person to source one from!

That's our catechism lesson for today;)

This news story on Gary Thompson can sort of relate to your issue.

I believe the scammer who cheated you out of getting that Tradition: he needs to go to a mental hospital. Same with the person who kept raising the price on those NIB Traditions. These two scammers have run out of places to go to, and I hope the Canadian scammer tells his story to the Mounties.
