NIB Hoover 918

VacuumLand – Vintage & Modern Vacuum Enthusiasts

Help Support VacuumLand:

They had it listed as buy it now. I thought about it and went back to buy it and they removed the buy it now option. My guess is it will bid up to some ungodly price, and then we will see it re-listed in a week, as so many other vintage machines have been lately.

Well true, but that is still no guarantee. Many times I put it a max bid I was SURE would not be outbid, only to get "sniped" anyway. EBay is cutthroat, and no more can you find vintage vacs at a "fair" price. This is surely a rarity, but the only one who will come out a winner is the seller.

Never enter max bids because people that do not care will outbid you out of spite and just for fun and games, and then will not pay for it. It happens all the time.

I never pay over $50 for any eBay vacuum UNLESS it's something super old and hard to find, or there is something unique about it. I especially never buy anything made since Y2K online because good odds are there will be one at Goodwill for $10 or $15.

It seems the seller gave up selling the vacuum and removed it off eBay.

I've recently experienced problems

buying a vacuum and never getting it.
I recently bought a Hoover Convertible upright, plastic base, no light... the cousin to the Deluxe with a light. I wanted the 'family'. Seller claims it was delivered.never got here.
I also had a big problem this past year. But, I got the refund instead of the vac.
This was a great Hoover Commercial. I wonder what will happen to it.

Its

A 913. The biggest sherman tank vacuum. If I recall it weights 32-35lbs.
This should catch a good amount of money. I've seen shoddy go for over $150.

A former VCCC member who has so much money he'll never spend it all, puts in $1000 max bids on any vac he wants on eBay. He uses Robobidder to put in the bid at the last minutes, trumping (excuse the phrase) everyone else who spent all that time increasing their bids by $10 until they believe they have won. Then, at the last second, they get outbid.

Tom: more like opened the kimono 😂😂😂

I almost bought it and figured I had spent enough this month on NOS machines. Machines that are much more rare not to mention I already have ONE 913 in gorgeous condition and don’t need any more. Better yet had I had bought it, I would have just went to pick it up and on the way back would have visited with another collector. Oh well no biggie I’m sure there will be more of them as vintage NOS machines have been coming out from under the woodwork lately.

Hope they have the box for it as well.

Then it truly would be that much closer to “brand new”. Saving boxes is so important for posterity. I’m having the hardest time finding an original box for my SteamVac that’s in pristine condition. Sadly, if they haven’t been discarded, any remaining available boxes are usually malodorous and covered with “mystery stains”.

Wow...

And in Webster, NY no less, which is only about 15 minutes away from me. They are a beastly cleaner, but I can't imagine what it actually went for. Maybe I don't want to know.
