Newbie with car vacuum questions

Hi everyone I'm new here. I though I should stop lerking around and introduce myself I'm Chris. I've loved vacuums my whole life. I currently have an intrest in 90's and older vacuums and some new ones. I have a question for you all i love to clean cars (something some people never really say)sometimes. At my moms apartments there are no outlets to plug a vacuum in. I'm looking for a vacuum to plug in the cigarette lighter outlet in the car. The last one I bought was a dud and i returned it 2 days after it arrived from amazon. At my dads house i use a 12 gallon shop vac in the garage to clean cars because it has a 1.25" diameter hose (makes it easier to maneuver. Im starting to think that i should buy a cordless hand vac for car cleaning any suggestions?

It really depends on what kind of cleaning your wanting to do in the car. Cordless vacs are generally designed for quick jobs, like light dusting or crumbs. I do use my Ergorapido Ultra to do a quick clean up in my Mini.
If you want something that's going to deep clean carpets and upholstery, I dont think your going to find anything cordless thats going to do a good job. The Dyson handheld would do ok, or if you want affordable, the Dirt Devil Gator might be your best bet. To get deep down clean, your better off just going to a gas station and using one of theirs, or asking a friend to borrow an outlet.

I'm not a big Dyson fan but i do own a DC31 handheld pretty much exclusively for the cars. It's powerful enough to do a pretty good job and holds enough charge to do the whole car. But it's more for in-between deep cleans when I bring the big vac down.

I haven't seen a mop vac in a long time. I believe those were sold at the same time as the 2nd generation Dirt Devil broom vac..

I use a mains power vac for my car but on occasion I've used a Black and Decker Pivot model. 


 


The Dirt Devil you refer to though seems to be selling on the Dirt Devil US website - may be worth a try;

You don't have to use a Hand Vac, all you need is a Inve

I have a little suggestion,that might work. But might not.
Have you thought about getting an Inverter?

My Dad, when he drove a Scania 114L for Eddie Stobart, he bought a Inverter that plugged into the ciggarette lighter and had a 240volt outlet. This was to power his laptop and TV of the time. But, as you are in America, you'd have to get an American one that has a higher wattage than the Vac you want to use. All I'd sugest then is to keep the engine running when Vacuuming, so it doesn't run the battery down.

Or, just get your Mom to drive to your Dad's house, and clean it there?

So far

the best 12v vac i've used was a dirt devil it was similar to the old handvacs 2nd best of the ones i've used would be the road pro they brush motor on those aren't too powerful but it does alright overall but it's certainly no dirt devil car vac

I think i might get the Roadpro car vac,the pivot cordless hand vac, or the Dirt Devil Quick Power stick vac since it has a built in hand vacuum
