Gee...those moss green Eurekas were so beautiful! Let us know how it runs, Zachary.

Though it's the economy "bottom of the line" model (no headlight), I bet you it's now the best-cleaning upright in your home!

Congrats on the new additions.....:-)

It runs like a dream the motor is very smooth and it is extreamily light to push aound the house. Did they ever come with a hose and attachments maybe on one of the higher end models?

All you need to buy is the standard Eureka upright attachment set that fits any of the "motor first" uprights from 1970 to 1990. I think it's called Attachment Set Model 60. You get a bottom plate pan converter that fits onto the chrome bottom plate and voila - you are set to go. Two warnings though - the suction is never very good even with the later "motor first" Eureka uprights (the magic in the carpet cleaning action is in the Vibra Groomer brush roll and the top-fill bag). Also, the foam "weatherstripping" material in the pan converter eventually disintegrates and you have to find a way of replacing it - either with new weatherstripping or even trying some flexible rubber caulking in a tube so that you can continue to get a good suction seal at the edges of the converter.

You will find scores of these attachment kits on eBay....if you can find an older set with chrome wands and that nifty red plastic Tool Pak Caddy, even better! Gimme one second and I'll do a quick search....play a video game while I do this... :-)

Bingo! Here's one of many that are on eBay right now:

I've never seen that style of hose for the Z89 before. Obviously it's a replacement, but it is in the color and pattern of the U.S. Super J (1975). What was the contemporaneous Canadian model for the Super J? I've never seen one. Or was the Super J also sold in Canada?

Charles,

I have the identical hose that Zach has pictured above for a Z89. I also have a Z89 hose in the blue 1205 colors. I also have the newer OEM vinyl style for the Z89 as well.

Yes, the Super J was sold in Canada.

Super J sold in Canada

Zach,

Hate to burst your bubble, but the Super J was sold in Canada. A fellow that used to work for my father at the time, also sold lux on the side, he tried to sell my parents a SJ, but didn't succeed. If memory is correct, I don't think they were made in Canada, but imported, I think lux imported machines from the US when the Canadian factories were having labor issues.

Unfortunately, the colored poster you have shown is not the most accurate for dates and models. Case in point, it shows the z89 green from 1958-1973, gee, where is the wine colored 88 and the cream colored 86?? Is this called rewriting history?? Kinda funny, but pathetic that a brochure coming from Lux can't even get their dates and models correct.

Yes the Super J was sold in Canada. The golf course where I worked as a greens keeper in my university years had one. On rainy days when I couldn't cut grass I would use the Super J to vacuum the carpets. Also my aunt bought a Super J after she got tired of her Rainbow D.

Charles,

Can't see that gold color hose being original to an AP100, as they are more of a salmony pink color (if that's even a color). I've got an original AP100 on the floor. I'm wondering if it were closer to an AP200?? Haven't seen an ap200 hose in a while, so my color memory is a little foggy, but it's more of a yellow/gold color. But I can't remember if the AP200 had the stripes

I had also heard about imported Super J's

A veteran vacuum shop owner in Windsor had mentioned that the Super J's were imported into Canada to meet market demands for new machines during a labor strike.
I had seen this model montage at the Aerus dealer, and thought it rather silly that they didn't include the red and beige 80 series. You'd think that they would want to display as much of a broad historical reference as possible, to boost their reputation.
