Hey experts, here's my situation. I bought a Dyson DC23 motorhead back in July and I really was impressed with its ability to groom my carpet and pull up all the nasty stuff hidden down in the pile. Although I always found the machine very bulky and heavy. In fact, using the telescopic wand to clean above the floor would grow old quite quickly. However, because of how wonderful it made my carpets look, I dealt with it. A couple of weeks ago, the powernozzle began acting up. It would shut itself off in the middle of vacuuming for no reason. I called Dyson and took it to an authorized repair shop. I was told depending on the problem, the repair could take anywhere from 1 week to over a month. Not something you'd expect from a $600 vacuum cleaner. Fortunately, I have a Miele canister too and that is helping me get by without my Dyson. I don't feel that a vacuum that expensive and so new should be having these sorts of problems. I also realize that if the bulkiness is bothering me now, it's only going to become more annoying over time. I've decided I'm going to sell my Dyson and look at purchasing an upright. I've had 2 Dyson uprights before but again, not too fond of the bulkiness. I'm also done with bagless. I'm basically looking for a bagged upright that really grooms the carpet well, isn't terribly loud, and lightweight would be a bonus. It doesn't have to have attachments on board because I use my miele canister too. I have used my parent's Sebo X4 and it's nice but never felt it groomed the carpet that well. I'm also currently borrowing their Kirby Ultimate G but it's too bulky to use unless you have wide open spaces of carpet. I have a mix of wall to wall, hard floors, and area rugs. I've been looking at the Hoover Platinum Lightweight bagged upright but don't know anyone who has owned one. Are there any other machines I should be considering?
