new to the kirby vacuum world

i am new to this site and to the kirby vacuum world.i just bought two kirby vacuum cleaners from e bay that my gran ma had when i was growing up a classic 3 and a tradition.i want to restore them to near perfect condition and keep them with me til i can pass them on to my children.can u please look at the pictures i have posted and tell me if everything looks original as it should b for the two models.that is most important to me for things to b right part on the right model.also one last thing any links out there on how to learn to restore the kirbys to near new condition would help me out alot cause iam new to this world but fell in love with the kirby line long ago growing up.any help would b great.thxs

The Tradition you have is the one with the locking headlight cap and metal fan.

The metal fan is OK but the headlight-mounted safety switch proved disastrous since some people slammed it to the point where the mechanism would stay running on high speed (hose) mode. So, may I ask, was this machine ever refitted with the toggle safety switch that's put below the fan opening (like on the Classic III)?

Remove the rug nozzle from your Tradition to see whether or not it's been retrofitted to use the same safety switch as your Classic III.

that safety switch that is below the fan,what does it do?the motor has only one speed right?r they alot of money to find a replacement switch and replace.i couldnt find much info on it online when i looked .the one on my classic 3 i think need replacing.the plastic housing on the switch is broke,and i was wondering if that affects how the vacuum runs?please forgive my lack of knowledge due to me being so new to the kirby vacuums but i do want to learn all i can.

You will want to buy an original bag for your Classic III because the only genuine ones still available are NOS, so once they are gone they are gone forever. I just got one for mine on Ebay.
