Hi guys, I'm usually in the Contemporary forum but I figure I'd post this here as well (it's already posted on my Ultimate G thread there).

I found a Heritage II in great shape. The tools appear to be unused, and overall the cleaner is in excellent shape. It needs a good polishing, but other than that it seems to run fine, and there is plenty of life left in the brushroll. I even have the original invoice from 1988 tucked in the manual. These pictures make it look worse than it is.

Here are some before and "after" shots. I say "after" only because I cleaned some of the crap off, but I haven't done anything under the hood (I gave it a quick hand polish and changed the bag but that's it). I'll tear it down and give it a proper service and cleaning once I move at the end of the month as most of my tools and buffer wheel are already packed away.

It's killing me because my apartment is currently being packed and I haven't been able to vacuum properly in over a month! I ran it on the small patch of carpet I have left and it runs fine, no bearing whine/drone, and no other funky noises.

I really like the look of the older Kirbys, as much as I like the G-Series models, the styling really doesn't have that classic, timeless look, especially the newer Sentria/Sentria II which look kinda generic (to me at least).

Nice vac!

I honestly believe that for use on carpet a Kirby cannot be beat; perhaps equalled but not often. I love the easy toe adjustment and little green light to indicate brushroll rotation since you can easily dial the nozzle height in to get a perfect seal to the carpet. Everyone has their preference but for regular use the late pre-Generation models seem ideal unless you have a house so large the tech drive is really warranted.
