Kirby Sentria & changes...
Hello all.
There have been numerous changes made during the present model's (Sentria) production run.
The dates are approximate, depending on when they (changes) actually went into production. Most of this information is per memos or letters from from Kirby.
(Circa)
2007 xx ~~ New Handi-Butler discontinued
2007 xx ~~ Redesigned Zipp Brush (only recently released due to prior inventory)
2008 02 ~~ Two (2) New Pet Owner Brushrolls introduced (G3/4 & G5/G10)
2008 12 ~~ Polymer base pan
2008 12 ~~ "F" style bag top adaptor & bags
2009 12 ~~ Straight zipper
2010 09 ~~ New style Mini Em-Tor®
2010 11 ~~ New LED headlight, circuit board & harness assy
There have been a few other minor changes during production as well. (ie: slide bracket wedges, etc.)
Steven,
...the DVD was introduced approx. mid-model on the Ultimate G.
As Bill mentioned above, with the "F" style adaptor it is easier to attach the bags; so after a trial period of time, Kirby has since then went back to the straight zipper.
Bud,
...you are correct, changes DO NOT ALWAYS INDICATE a model change is at hand. And Kirby does strive to make improvements during production.
I hope this info. helps clarify a few things.
Cheers & hagd all,
Bill
Ps: As a side note,
...Kirby did have a "headlight bulb, burnout" issue with the Diamond Edition. That was very briefly, & was rectified with a change of bulb wattage. However, I am NOT aware of, nor have I ever seen a 'motor burn out issue' in the Diamond Edition.
If there was an issue, I would love to see documentation, as there was never a memo or letter from Kirby that there was an issue.
Numerous times over the years, I have had someone bring in a machine (Kirby) that they had somewhere else to be possibly repaired, & they were told that it was the motor or the transmission or something else ($$$) was bad, ONLY to be SHOWN/TOLD by me that it was something real simple.
As an example I've had people bring in machines that they were told the motor was shot!!! ...only to take it apart, & all it needed was new carbon brushes.
