What'd TTI stick the cordwinder on with...bubblegum? Geez, they couldn't even be bothered to order it up from China with the reel enclosed...

Question - which one of these is not like the other?
Answer - these them there things are all alike from the same parts bins.

Excepting the classic Royal Everlast and maybe, just maybe, the 'Hoover' Commercial Conquest & Guardsman lines. Maybe.

INTRODUCING!!!The NEW Royal Dumpster Plastivac with plastic cordreel-wonder how long that will last-and the poor vacuum suffers the fate of being left in a dumpster-Yes would rather have the Royal metal Everlast vacuums.I do have a collection of them.It seems when TTI acquires a vacuum company-its the "Kiss of Death" for that vacuum cleaner companies quality-kinda like when White Conslidated Industries buys up a major appliance company.Oh yes watch your kurbs-you just might find one of these vacuums-beat up-but there.I suppose its better the discarded vacuum end up with a collector than the "jaws of death"in the back of the trash truck.

I think it's a disgrace that it bears the Royal name. Everything about it screams poor quality. I've been very disappointed with Royal over the last few years, I wouldn't even want an Everlast. They're noisy, have sealed motors, and nowadays pull TOO MUCH CURRENT! Why can't Royal go back to the little 3.5 amp motor with the little red oiler cap on the back? I'd take a model 880 over the junk they're producing now anyday of the week....

Unfortunately I strongly doubt Hoover, Dirt Devil, Royal, and Eureka will come back to the US.

I can agree with Ohio Tuec-the older Royal motors were better so what if you had to put a drop of oil in the cups once a year-they worked quite well and were quiet. And those motors were easy and cheap to service-you could also replace the brushes yourself-or it was easy and cheap to pay a vac technician to do it at the vac store.Since those motors ran at low speeds the brushes lasted many ,many years.I just don't know how long the Chinese built motors in present Everlast and Commercial metal Royals will last.Sadly in todays sealed Royals-it takes a tech a long time to replace brushes-in the older models-few minutes!
