Actually,
Menards sells the perfect plug for things like vacuums. It even has the clip so that the plug can be attached to the cord when winding it up and it doesn't look ugly.

cord rewind no use for lcip
the only one i shaw did not have a cord clip dont need it ITS an ELECTROLUX AP 200 whittt a cord winder so cord clip is useless since my cord winder auto rewind on my electrolux vacuum works good

I remember with my mom's old 1982 Kenmore canister, she didn't hold on to the plug when rewinding the cord and it broke the wires inside the molded on plug after several years due to the impact. One day it started sparking when she plugged it in, so my dad put a new plug on that looked similar to that one but white and no cord clip.
The vacuums she had after that she took better care to hold the plug so it didn't whip and snap when it rewound, and she didn't have to replace any more plugs on her vacuums since then upright or canister though they've all had a cord reel. I guess having a foot pedal rewind helps too since you can stop it just before the end rewinds and then hold the plug. The models in 1982 didn't have a pedal.
But good job on the rewire.

all i did was open the white plug put on the Big yellow one better be safe than sorry a nd voila took me about 10 minutes works great now its nice and tight wont come off or break good fora alot more years now yes its yellow yes its big but heyy it works period

My Eureka has a similar replacement plug with a cord clip. I had never seen one like that until I acquired that machine a few months ago. Replacement plugs, like a lot of repair items seem to be harder to find these days than they were 20 or 30 years ago. I guess that's part and parcel of today's despicable, disposable culture. I used to see replacement plugs everywhere. Even grocery stores and drugstores carried them as general merchandise items alongside lightbulbs, but not anymore. The only places around here that I find them are Lowe's and Home Depot but their selection is limited. They carry the small ones for lamps and the big ones for heavy duty drop cords in abundance but the middle-sized, two-prong plugs for appliances, not so much.

You can probably find them online. I've even seen modern made versions of the round ornate acorn patterned plugs for antique lamps, fans and such on some online stores. I'd like to get some for my old fans, but the white or black replacement plugs at Lowes look vintage enough for most cases when I need them.
I do wish they still made the old cord sets with the small molded plugs like you used to see on old mixers, fans and such. It would be nice to be able to get them for replacements, especially in colors like turquoise, blue, etc. These days just about all you can get for replacement cords is a white or brown one with a modern polarized Japanese style plug that looks out of place on most vintage appliances from before the late 1980s.

Yeah, I've ordered a few plugs off of eBay from overseas. It takes a geological age for them to arrive, but the price is usually half or less than what I'd pay for the same thing domestically. Another thing for vintage lamps that I miss being able to just pick up at Lowe's as needed is cloth-wrapped cord. Vintage lamps just don't look right with modern, plastic cords sticking out of their bases. I used to be able to get it cut-to-order at Lowe's but the last time I needed some, I had to order it on eBay. Fortunately, I found a domestic supplier with the cords wrapped in a wide variety of colors and patterns. I picked a nice, solid bronze color to match my cast bronze art nouveau desk lamp and It arrived in about a week. The lamp looks much better now. Granted, it's a modern cord, with a silken over-wrap, but it looks period correct.

now my electrolux ap 200 has a cord rewind.
i know the plug on ym AP200 is bigger and yellow but it wont come off like the cheaper one you see today i went over kill fora reason i have a functioning cord rewind im careful whit it now my Electrolux works like new again and im glad .Yes Canadian tire is the only place i found good plugs i rather have the bigger plug than have to replace it again down the line whit this heavy duty plug i know my vacuum is good to go LIKE I MENTION BEFORE IT HAS A CORD REWIND so the clip is use less why would i clip it if i have a functioning cord rewind??? so this plug serves it duty and does it well its yellow its big and bulky but it works thats all that matter i dont feel like rearing my vacuum a 100 time so heavy duty plug and be done whit it .

Well... the big yellow plug is kinda funny looking on the lux, but on the bright side, it has a real wire clamp on it. No way the cord winder will pull that plug off.

thats what i mean yes its bigger on the lux but i got sick of fixing it so i went whit a true plug no more problems now shes fix for good and the clamps hold it on well my Electrolux AP 200 works like a charm now whit a yellow plug but fix it once fix it right
